I'll just notch this one on the belt as another argument won on the talkboard...

I knew that was coming, but I have never seen so many Rudy Gay fans from this board before. Its quite obvious you have been watching too much ESPN lately. Projections, projections per 40 minutes. Projections smear, smudge, and "bias" the truth. You should have done it for 50 minutes, and then Jeff wouldn't even deserve the award based on your logic, right? No matter how you slice it, Green is the Big East rookie of the year. I've seen both play in high school and Jeff was the better player. I've seen them both play and college, and Jeff is the better player. No projections here, just facts, please. The stats I presented aren't projections, the_way. They are facts. Per 40 minutes played, that's what each player averaged over the course of the year. I could have done it per 30, or 20 or 15 or 12.4 minutes, and the two players would still basically be even. All I was doing was leveling the numbers. Jeff's numbers were better, yes. But he also played 6 more minutes per game, meaning he played about 160 more minutes over the course of the season. Is it fair or unbiased to not account for that? I never said that Jeff didn't deserve the award, so don't tell me that I did. I just think Gay is just as deserving, and the numbers bear that out. If you want to have a discussion based on logic, let me know. But if you're just going to insult me and my intelligence, don't bother posting.

Finding flaws in your logic is not insulting your intelligence. When you look at stats, like league leaders, per 40 minutes or per 48 minutes is bogus. What you average is what you average. Nice try, but your argument(s) don't hold weight. You are a fan of Rudy Gay, just admit it. You get all excited when you see him dunk the basketball in games, don't you? It gives you that special thrill, doesn't it?

You're right. Finding what you call "flaws" in my logic is not insulting my intelligence. But calling me a UConn fan is....
I'm done here. I've made my points. I'm not getting into a message board Editeding match with someone who doesn't understand math.

Jeff Green: 15.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, .498 FG, .392 3Pt. Rudy Gay: 16.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.7 blocks, .454 FG, .462 3Pt. That made me wonder about other guys stats averaged over 40 minutes, just for comparison: Mystery #1: 13.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 3.1 blocks, .479 FG, .639 FT Mystery #2: 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals, .382 FG, .384 3Pt. Mystery #3: 9.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 steals, .427 FG, .316 3Pt. Mystery #4: 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, .7 steals, .500 FG, .313 3Pt. Mystery #5: 14.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 1.1 blocks, .714 FG, 1.000 FT Mystery #6: 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals, .338 FG, .200 3Pt. Can you guess who they each are?

Just to be clear, I'm not making a judgement on this issue either way, just curious to see how these other "role" players worked out in the whole scheme.

Let me guess:
1) Nat Burton 2) Nik Caner Medley 3) Stephon Marbury when he was in 7th grade 4) Bill Bradley 5) Craig Esherick as a junior on the hilltop
And, I definitely have to say that the Esh-dog had the most impressive line out of all of them...

Someone in another thread suggested the change. I will probably change back, but for the moment, I'm keeping it. Moneytrain is strangely taken. Moneytrain was an "insider" who gave us vague ideas that he knew the innerjuice on recruiting. He had some dubious claims about surprise signings that never materialized. I'm sure other people have better memories of his exploits. If nothing else, he was very entertaining.

I hear he's from Maryland... Careful mentioning Maryland.......you don't want the_way to call you an ACC fan. Hey Cambridge, can you find Ray Reed's turnover numbers per 40 minutes?

The real issue here is that Crawford looks to be the REAL Rookie of the Year.....

Nice work, Cambridge. Not entirely surprised that Williams' number is higher - UConn probably has a lot more possessions per game than us.

Agree, I'm not going to say it wasn't a challenge to find someone with a higher number...
