Listened to first few minutes of Magoo's weekly sports radio show tonight. Of course gave no props to Hoyas . Everything was about how his team had more flops go against them than rest of games combined, Hoya players sitting in the paint, Jackson getting bad calls against him. The usual Boheim. Let him complain all he wants. Let him blame the refs. It is distracting him from actually figuring out what is wrong with his team. Which means they will keep playing like this and will keep losing like this. Which is wonderful.

No actually his constant complaining may work to his advantage going forward regarding Jackson. It might be just enough to put it in a few refs head that they may not call one that they otherwise would. I've also said before but i cannot remember a time, other than any game in which the Durham Divers play in, in which the offensive charge is called so often. Was this a new point of emphasis at the start of the season. You use to get a couple a game. this year almost every game you see 5,6 or more.

I believe I read somewhere that they were focusing on lowering the shoulder to clear space. Magoo must have missed the memo; then again, Jackson doesn't have any other move so . . .

It's truly amazing that so many 'cuse fans (who watched the game) have also bought into the media narrative that they led/controlled the whole game, until the last five minutes.
By my count, the Hoyas led for 11 minutes in the first half, and 8-9 minutes in the second half. There were almost a dozen ties, and as many lead changes.
But I'm sure that was all because of "flops" (and not the ridiculous ones by Cuse at the top of the key).

Hard to watch the game with orange-colored glasses. You miss so much reality.

We got our fair share of weak charge calls called against us too (Freeman and Clark on perimeter) I have posted this elsewhere, but thought it appropriate here too (re: weak charge calls). Cuse bloggers complaining about our "flops" is funny to think about after watching that. With moves like that, it's shocking he escaped Coach K's recruitment. Must be something they learn up in Alaska/Canada while ice fishing.

The Cuse fans and players just follow Boeheim's lead in whining about all things that go against the Orange, right or wrong is irrelevant. And by the way, Jackson stinks. He has one go to move and it is illegal and our superior COACHING (Orange may want to start doing it) had our big men prepared to take the shoulder and draw the charge.
All this chatter from SU is because they are not meeting expectations this season and the team is made up solid, but forgettable players. The fanbase is now coming to terms with the reality of their team and it hurts. Last year I respected that team, this year? whatever.
Talking about the SU hype machine. How is that Preseason Freshman of the Year working out Jimmy B? What was his name again?

Someone on their Scout board who was at the game said that Fab Melo went straught to the locker room and skipped the handshake line Wednesday. Stay classy Syracuse - although it was also suggested that he may have been too winded from the 4 minutes he played at the start of the game to make it all the way through the line.

To be fair to Magoo, Cuse really has been called for a lot of fouls today. EDIT: 4 whistles in the last 90 seconds makes it double digits for the game! EDIT: OK, more like 6-7 in the last 2 minutes. How does Boeheim not get T'ed up there? Also hilarious to hear Pasch try to defend him by saying "he had his hands behind his back the entire time" when engaging the ref. I think we may have been watching different games.

Meh, Chris Smith made both of the FTs anyway. Only thing that call did was give Cuse fans another talking point letting blame something other than lack of effort.
That team is good when they try. Has to be troubling how often lately they've gotten into trouble because they don't take care of the basics on defense.

I can't remember a team at SU that was more poorly coached. Boeheim does not seem to have figured out how best to deal with his bench and how Sutherland needs to play consistently for them to present matchup issues.
It also has all the hallmarks of a team where 5 different guys have "ideas." SU[] is on a path to the NIT right now - can they get in at 9-9?
On Edit: Apparently Boeheim said something in the presser today about how Fabby Melo is "done playing" whatever that means. He seems like a good kid and hope things can work out for him at SU[], particularly because he embodies what we like to see on the floor at SU[].

Does that mean Fab himself quit playing or was he benched? If it was the later, its not right to throw the kid under the bus like that by making such a broad proclamation

Just read that. If he REALLY has had family issues and thats why he missed practice, it doesn't seem like grounds for a benching. Something else is going on. Maybe its the communication issue, but it seems like its something else. And for Boeheim to say "He's done...for now"....well, it just seems mean/demoralizing

I agree - but that is Boeheim. He has a habit of "making examples" of certain guys who probably deserve to play. That being said, I think benching is appropriate for missing a practice without explanation or communication. In the end, there's probably more to it than is reported - agree. And Boeheim could have limited discussion of this to the "Syracuse family" although the press up there is gaga about covering these guys.
