Overinterpreting 140 character messages intended for the tweeter's friends is a dicey thing.

SELF_MADEest89 profile SELF_MADEest89 i see that college boy made the right collegw decision today #smartkid Is Chris Wright hating on Gtown? He does have some NCSU history. If so, poor showing dude. Well maybe he could be referring to picking the hometown school actually. who knows... There are no maybes, but, or nor's he meant what he said! There is no cover up, so don't butter it up!

Glide, you've known Chris since he was a kid and would not throw him to the wolves unless deserved so I'm taking that as confirmation. Very very disappointing. He should have gotten drafted but to blame it on Gtown is a little ridiculous IMO.

Should have gotten drafted? I really liked Chris as a player but he had no business being drafted.

1974 is correct as to NC State's title under Sloan. That was a great team led by David Thompson and Tom Burleson, but the only reason they won is that they had the good fortune to play the Final Four in Greensboro that year. When they played UCLA on a neutral court earlier in the year, they got their heads handed to them. My recollection of that game was UCLA just didn't take it that seriously, didn't play well. They had the attitude that all they had to do was show up. That, and David Thompson was the greatest player on the planet. Nope, I don't think that's true (not that I mean to hijack this thread, but then Chris Wright's tweet isn't all that relevant either). That was certainly true in the lost weekend in Oregon earlier that year, but in that game I felt they played hard, and just got beat on the road. That NC State team only lost one game in two years. They weren't exactly chumps, and I don't think UCLA took them lightly. FWIW, David Thompson may have been the most exciting college player I've ever seen. He was something else.

Ditto, tas. I'm a GU homer, but that's looking through Blue&Grey-colored glasses. There's no way Chris would have gotten into the league straight out of college if he had played for NC St., Duke, etc... He'll need to go the long way around like former Duke boy-wonder Jon Scheyer.

I see what you guys are saying and maybe you're right. I was more focused on how bad the 2nd round of this year's draft was and thinking it was mostly because of the lockout and teams taking people they would not have otherwise taken. Thought Chris was better than at least 10 of those guys but then again there were probably 10 other guys not drafted who were better than Chris. I might have drafted Chris for the effort he brought, his speed and intelligence with respect to the game, and knowing that defense (1 of his 2 bigget weaknesses) is ignored in the NBA. That being said, his lack of consistent outside shot was a glaring weakness and he was nowhere near as good as Rondo to make up for that.

Adversity and disappointment either build character or show the lack of character. Let's just say certain responses and actions from departed players are not surprising to some of us.
There is another saying that I fully believe the majority of the fanbase believes--ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION.
I don't care if this team doesn't qualify for the NIT, I'm far more excited in following this group then any of the past 3 teams and it's due to work ethic, commitment, and focus on front of jersey and team and not back of jersey and "me".

One would have to be a straight BUM to go undrafted in this year's draft. And people think Hollis is going pro.

When Chris was just a sophomore, I pointed out a few weaknesses in his game and questioned his decision making ability. Certain posters on this board slammed me for it and responded that CW would be the best pg in the BE by his junior year. Funny how things have come full circle.

I'm one who thought Chris was the best PG in the Big East. Having been one of his biggest supporters, his words break my heart if true. Chris was and has been one of my favorite Hoyas

Chris is 22 years old and not the first or last college grad to face a job market they may not have expected. Give the young man some time and recognize this as the tweet that it is, nothing more. Imagine how you'd have responded to Georgetown in general if post-graduation you could log onto sites like this and read all the people b*tching about how you played, or studied, or failed your law school application, or bombed your interview with Goldman. Best of luck to Chris, wish him well, he's out there working and earning, he has a GU degree and will always be a Hoya.

I hear what you're saying LNU but it's really not about Chris and us fans, it's about him and his past teammates. He just told the cbb world G'town isn't the right choice to play for reruits, the part that bothered me most is he hash marked "smart kid" Many board members have expressed how disappointed they are with the tweet so imagine how Jason or Nate or Hollis must feel to read these comments? How about JT3 and his coaches? When did they ever talk garbage about him? He was a 3 year starter under JT3 how is that holding someone back? I get the mistakes of youth but this was way out of bounds in my opinion

Even in your scenario, I cannot see who would blame GU for bombing the interview, not studying hard, etc...

CW played emotionally and somewhat out of control. Not a shock that he may have had an emotional moment. Twitter is a really bad development that allows anyone to shove their entiire foot inside their mouth in an instant of time and before any time to reflect or reconsider.
