So Miami lost to Rutgers earlier in the season but then turns around and beats West Virginia in Coral Gables.
Apparently the Eers blew a 13 point second half lead

In case you were in an office pool...10:17 remaining in the first half of Navy-WG in front of about 2,000 people at Verizon Center when John Junior BUM! Feinstein suggested to Georgetown fans listening that local teams should play each other.
Life goes on at the BB&zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Right, Vernon Macklin made his return to Verizon with UF earlier and played in front of the kind of crowd he probably remembers from Kenner League games.

I didn't realize the BB&T was today. Does not get much attention nationally.

I didn't realize the BB&T was today. Does not get much attention nationally. It's just that kind of elitist attitude that prevents Georgetown from doing their part for the children.

People should tune into the night cap of the BB&T though Since our next opponent temple is playing maryland. Great chance to scout the opposition against decent competition. It's on MASN at 7:30.

I didn't realize the BB&T was today. Does not get much attention nationally. And yet every TV and radio interview has some guy gushing about how all the teams across the nation want to play in the event. Go figure.

Ugh temple had them put away, but then let them back in the game. Temple only up 4 now.
I like our chances on thursday. Really hope temple doesn't completely blow this game though.

BUM loves to blame Georgetown for everything, but seriously, why won't Maryland fans show up to this event? Most years, they play against a good team. I think the tickets are pretty cheap. If the game was in College Park, they'd fill the place easily. But it looks like there are 5,000 people in the Verizon Center tops. UMCP fans really can't be bothered to make it downtown for one game a year? I just don't get it.

phew temple manages to hold on to win.
yeah i don't get it they're playing a good temple team that was ranked when tickets were being sold. Why would maryland fans not there. The redskins were away and the game was over by the time the maryland game started. I guess the ravens are home, but you'd think there'd be enough maryland fans to at least fill up the lower bowl and the 200s for a game like this.

But I will defend Maryland fans a bit by saying 8PM games on a Sunday night in downtime DC (far away from where most Terp fans live) is not close to ideal. Especially this year when the opponent is a team as bland as Temple. Junior seems so concerned to not have any scheduling conflicts with the Redskins games (although he couldn't know the NFL was going to schedule the Ravens game as their Sunday night pick), that he and his crew go too far to push the starting time back.. Since this is no longer a two-day tournament, why not just scheule the event on a Saturday?

Since this is no longer a two-day tournament, why not just scheule the event on a Saturday? Every Saturday at Verizon Center from mid-November through late January (except Christmas) has an NBA or NHL game on Saturday night. It doesn't have the ability to free up Verizon for a full day of basketball for the BB&T, which is why Sunday is open. Announced attendance: 10,227. (Across all three games, maybe.)

Forget Saturday night. Do it Saturday afternoon...on a weekend the Hoyas aren't playing. Yeah, it would be tough to put that altogether but....

Well, Lizzie is covering the Terps now. She probably had a gig to cover the West Virginia University rugby team.

Until this week Temple was a top 25 team. How are they a bland team. Besides Duke they were the only top 25 team that was coming to the area for maryland as of last week. It's a late start on a school night, but that shouldn't matter for their students and any fans with out kids. It certainly limits the number of temple fans that were able to come down, but I'm fairly sure we'd have drawn much better if we were playing temple tonight. They barely cracked 10,000 and that might be a little generous.

Serious college basketball fans know that Temple is good and a traditionally solid program, but they aren't a big, exciting name to the average fan. They aren't from a power conference and aren't Gonzaga. I like playing Temple, but even I'll admit it's not a game I'm circling on my calendar if we were to be playing them at home.

Playing (and watching) Temple is as fun as playing (watching) Wisconsin. Folks respect both programs because they are so solid and sound. But outside of their fanbase no one is going out their way to check them out on TV.
