Which is stunning, I'm sure. The reality is, Georgetown runs at an average pace now and has never really had trouble running. I doubt we'll slow it down, but I think it'd drive Mizzou nuts. If we slow it down, they'll feel free to start gambling on the press because they know we're not going to punish them for it. We can play our pace in the half court, but we need to look to attack after breaking the press.

Not sure if it will actually show up around gametime, but the game is currently listed on ESPN3.com for those who don't have ESPNU (Comcast, RCN subscribers here on the east coast)

Hello everyone...Mizzou fan here. It sounds like you guys are in pretty much the same situation as we are as far as knowing what to expect from the game tonight. I'm looking at it as a good litmus test to what kind of team we really are. To be honest, we've only looked like a top 10/15 team a few times this year so far, and never really for a whole game. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising since we're fairly young, but it has been concerning.
I think most of the important points have been hit...the main key to beating us is ball control. If your guards can limit turnovers you'll have a good chance. For us, it usually comes down to rebounding. It's been hard for us to find quality big men that fit our style of ball, but we do have Ricardo Ratliffe this year. He's been solid (averaging almost a double-double; points/rebounds), but is still adjusting to D1 coming from JC. This will be, by far, the best competition he's seen.
All-in-all, it should be a good game. I pretty much view it as a 50/50 game...could go either way depending on a few factors. Here's to a good, clean game and no injuries.

It should be an intense battle, may the best team win and, as you said, no injuries. Definitely will tell both teams where they stand at this point. We are hopeful that our senior leadership will allow us to keep our composure against the pressure and exploit opportunities. We don't have dominant big men, but Julian Vaughn has given us very solid play, and the bench has been developing nicely. I would wish you good luck, but not tonight.

We have become much better at attacking the basket after breaking the press - but we have to keep control of tempo, not turn it into a track meet. Pick our spots to attack and we will come out on top. Agreed. To me, the key to this game is what Chris and Jason do AFTER they beat the press. I think we can beat it, but our past problem is we continue at a frenetic pace and rush shots or make impossible drives to the bucket. I want to see us practice beating the press and then getting into a 10-15 second offense. Couldn't agree more. Normally, a game like this would really scare me because I wasn't sure Chris was really up to decision-making this game requires. But, I'm loving what I've seen so far and I'm pretty confident he at least has the hoops IQ now to know when to push after breaking the press and when to be happy at not turning it over and going into the half-court offense. It's a lot to put on one player, but as long as our guards, and especially CW, control the flow of the game I think we're in a good position to win. That means no wild drives to the hoop or botching fast breaks with numbers. But, like I said, those are IQ plays and not athletic plays and that's been Chris' biggest improvement this season, IMO.

I want to see some Sims jams when we break their press!
Goatlieb picked Mizzou? He's just mad he only got to play Georgetown twice and lose both times before getting expelled from Notre Dame.
Mon, Jan 15, 1996 at Notre Dame, Won 74-69 Sat, Feb 3, 1996 vs Notre Dame, Won 70-53

We'll have some TO's caused by their press but I think Wright & co actually have handled the press pretty well the last two seasons. And regardless of the outcome we need practice against the press for BE play. I don't think it will be a problem tonight...

Here is hoping for an exciting game, where both teams learn more about how their team is looking for this season. Clean, no injuries, and then here's to hoping Mizzo cleans up in the Big 12 (10?) the rest of the way. I've always enjoyed watching Mizzo under Anderson, his teams are entertaining and play good basketball. Great early season matchup between top teams.

From the ESPN Preview: "Following a 62-59 win Nov. 12 against Old Dominion, Georgetown won its next five over mid-major opponents by an average of 16.0 points, including an 87-72 victory Saturday against UNC-Asheville."
I'm sure NC state fans will be happy to hear they've been relegated to midmajor status. Although with as bad as the ACC is this year it might not be that far off.

Ive gone back and watched 2 games on espn3...Ratliff and especially Bowers are gonna be load espeically if its Hollis on them for extended amounts of time, other than that, really not worried about their team. they can shoot it well at times, but they seem to make enough boenheaded plays to keep you in the game. I don't see us getting "blown out" but i could see us getting a substantial lead and having to hold on for dear life, which is what I think will happen

When they do get turnovers against us, and they will occasionally, we have to have the discipline not to foul. I agree that keeping our best in the game will be important.

Tables, many a sports bar has wifi. Work is no excuse, unless it involves a conference call.

goodmanonfox I am going to take G'Town because they have veteran guards. RT @d2train: @goodmanonfox You got Mizzou or G'Town tonight?
CBSsportsline's daily projections has us winning 69-61
other twitter opinions:
TheHoopsReport 2 intriguing games tonight: UNC at Illinois, and Georgetown vs. Missouri. I'll take Illinois and Missouri. G-town has better chance than UNC I know Georgetown is favored but I think Mizzou is the favorite, so I say in order of chance for upset: G-town, FSU, then UNC.
JonRothstein Game of the week tonight at 9 PM....#Georgetown vs. #Missouri....ultimate contrast of styles
SethDavisHoops Predictions for tonight: OSU 76, Fla St 70. Mizz 70, Gtown 66. Illinois 80, NC 68. NWestern 64, GT 62. Iowa 71, Wake 64. Clem 66, Mich 59.
2.
No. 16 Georgetown (6-0) at No.9 Missouri (5-0), 9:00 p.m. Tuesday
The battle of two undefeated top 25 teams will always make this list no matter how early in the season it is. The Hoyas are coming off a convincing 82-67 win over North Carolina State. The Tigers, as well, haven’t had any competitive games other than a five-point game against Western Illinois. The Tigers have won the other four games by 10 point or more. This should be a good early-season game to see what both teams have and need to work to make a run in March.
Matchup to watch: Forward Laurence Bowers vs. Forward Hollis Thompson.
Prediction: 71-66 Hoyas.

According to the schedule on espn.com, the Worldwide Leader didn't even splurge for the HD cameras for this game. How is that possible.

Video from the last time Gtown played Missouri in McD. McDonough looks AWESOME there. Like a different place. What has changed since then to make it look so much smaller and less intimidating since then? I think all the walls were painted white, I like them better in Hoya blue like in the video. That's crazy though, it really seems a lot bigger and more like a legit home court in that video. Wish it had sound though
