Yeah, for whatever reason, Missouri has been very average out of the gate, IMO. With their experience and coaching, they should end up being a solid sweet 16 team, but they have been pretty sloppy and lethargic. Hopefully, we come out on fire, quiet the crowd and methodically go to work on their press. They remind me of Washington last year. They ended up as a sweet 16 team, but they certainly didnt play like a top 20 team in the OOC schedule last year.

This will go down as a semi-away game, which gets more points in the RPI, I believe.

Doug Gotleib will get the call for the Hoyas. Oh joy.
I also though of Washington when looking at this Mizzou team, though I think washington is a bit more sloppy than the tigers are.

Looks like Wright and Hollis will be fine to play:
"TarikElBashir Gtown's Wright (ankle) and Thompson (cut over eye) practiced fully Sunday. Working on a story about Hoyas' toughest non-conf. sked yet."

Guess this means Rich on the radio for the 3rd straight game! If you get Comcast cable ESPNU is 853 in Montgomery County, MD and I think it may be the same # for DC. If you are in Philly or DE I think you can get it also

It would be great to see that story from Tarik. We dont play 3 home games in a row the entire season. Some top programs dont even play a true road OOC game...at all.

Some mixed feelings about tomorrow, my dad (RIP) went to Mizzou and remained a fan for 45 more yeaqrs, so I have always rooted for them when I could. Of course tomorrow I hope they get skunked, I know Dad would understand!

COUGHsyracuseCOUGH If I were Emperor of Earth, not going on the road before the New Year would mean automatic disqualification from postseason play.

C'mon, let's be fair - to Suckacuse, going to Atlantic City to play a midwest and a southern team are grueling road contests!

Mizzou up to #9 in this week's AP poll. Would be seen as an even bigger quality win if the Hoyas can pull this one off!

I view this as a "nothing to lose, really" game. We won't be favored and, if we lose, it won't be the worst thing in the world and could even help us identify some things to work on. If we win, it will be a nice trophy for a while but it won't make the BE season any easier. I think it's a great early-season context and I'm glad we got it.

Tarik is definitely a great source and an upgrade from previous beat writers. Since we know you read this, keep up the good work.

FWIW, KenPom has the Hoyas a 1 pt favorite, though only a 54% win probability. In essence, he considers it a tossup.

Vegas would have us as a 1.5 point favorite, if Vegas and point spreads existed, which they obviously don't.

From Tarik's article, up on that thread:
"We're playing a team that plays with a high level of intensity and is all over you for 94 feet, the whole 40 minutes of the game," Wright said. "It's going to be good for us. In a lot of ways they are similar to Louisville because they're very intense."
