If you had told me at the beginning of this series that one of the major story lines of the Stanley Cup Finals would be "Alex Burrows? Vancouver hero or bigger dick than Sean Avery?" I would've said you were crazy.
Mainly because that role is reserved for Ryan Kesler. (Ba-Zing!)
Though I'm sure many on the opposing side might think the same of Brad Marchand.
Here is what I loved about last night (other than the score):
Brad Marchand rakes Ehrhoff (granted, a penalty) and then upends Sedin, and immediately throws down to face off against Ballard.
The moronic Versus broadcast crew: "There's no place for that!!!"
Then, after the game, tuning over to NHL Network, showing the highlight of the same sequence.
In unison, Kevin Weekes, Mike Johnson, Marty Turco and Doug Weight.........
"That! Was! Awesome!!!"

Over on VS, they interviewed Marchand after the game and didn't bother to ask him one question about that play.

I would've said you were crazy. And if you had told me at the beginning of this playoffs that one of the major storylines would be whether a healthy Roberto Luongo will start Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals, I'd have also said you were crazy. If I were running the show in Vancouver, I'd give Schneider a shot. But I think they'll stick with Luongo for Game 5.

Quite a lot of talking going on in Vancouver. One can only hope karma is paying attention.

Quite a lot of talking going on in Vancouver. One can only hope karma is paying attention. Karma was paying attention tonight. Not sure about Wednesday. The paramedics better be paying attention though: While there was very little drama at all in this game, I don't expect anything like that in Vancouver.

Anyone else ready for game 7? And can Boston win on the road? I sure hope so.

I seriously can't take this. And it's only the first period.

Great series for the B's. If this hasn't been the greatest decade in Boston sports history, I don't know what comes close. Four sports, titles in each.
It's now been 18 years since the Cup has been up north. And the Maple Leafs' drought, now at 44 years, continues.

No complaints/whining/handwringing allowed from Boston sports fans about anything for a long time. The longest championship drought for any of the 4 major franchises now dates all the way back to the Pats last Super Bowl win, in February 2005.
Congrats to the Bruins.

No kidding. My youngest is 11 and she has no clue this is not the way it is supposed to be.

Surely you are not forgetting the tortured history of our beloved Revs. Win it for Taylor Twellman! Sincere congrats to the hardcore B's fans. It was a lot of fun joining your bandwagon the past few months.

I really have no words today. So happy. Maybe in a couple days, I'll be able to express that in more detail.

Did UMCP send revelers to Vancouver after the Bruins' win last night?

Don't look now, but the Bruins' finals series got higher ratings in Boston than the Celtics' finals series last year. The NHL is quietly but firmly climbing back to where it deserves to be.

Just wondering...where are the ratings you saw from? Are they the entire New England area, Mass, or just the city? I know that for me, game 7 was the only Hockey game I watched in entirety the entire year. (I think I watched a couple periods of Caps-Pens games)

I know that for me, game 7 was the only Hockey game I watched in entirety the entire year. (I think I watched a couple periods of Caps-Pens games) The quotes I've seen are about the Boston media market. Not sure how far that extends. "BOSTON SETS RECORDS: The Boston market earned a 43.4 rating and a 64 share, the best overnight on record for a hockey game in Boston (dating back to 1991) and the best overnight in the Boston market featuring a Boston team in any major sports championship since Super Bowl XLII (Patriots-Giants, 55.6 on 2/3/08). Boston’s seven-game average for the Stanley Cup Final (five games on NBC, two games on VERSUS) was a 28.1/44, 12 percent higher than ABC’s seven-game Boston average for last year’s NBA Finals (25.0/40 for Boston-LA Lakers)." puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2011/06/16/game-7-overnights-bruins-victory-ties-best-game-7-rating-on-record/
