Some guys you just have to hate. Chara is one of them.

ouchI know it's a tough guy hockey thing to not wear visors or masks, but this and this reinforce how stupid that actually is.

I am surprised more players don't choose to wear visors at least.
I understand why they don't want to wear full face shields or (god forbid) cages, but visors are really not any kind of impairment.
No face protection at all is just what they're used to, I guess, but it's still stupid, as you say.
Here's a trivia question (no fair using the interwebs to cheat!!):
Who was the last player in the NHL not to wear a helmet, as a result of the NHL grandfathering in the mandatory helmet rule?

Got to see Bill McCreary's last game today. He looked like the happiest guy on the ice for the whole game.
Great game too, as the Caps came back in the last minute and won in OT. Arnott hasn't scored a ton of goals with the Caps, but it seems like every goal he scores has been huge. Great trade deadline pickup.

Hes scored 4 in 10 games, thats a pretty high clip in my book. He only had 13 in 62 with NJ. But your right every goal has been a huge one. An amazing pick up for the caps, especially that he WANTS to be the leader in the locker room they need.

Was talking with some Flyers fans today, and it was funny to see that none of us really want the top seed in the East for our team. Neither of us wants anything to do with the Rangers or the Sabres in the first round.

Bill McCreary. I've disliked that guy since 1994, which is quite a long time, considering that I was seven years old in 1994.

Oh, God. Did I just get a Bruins playoff preview last night?
I can't remember the last time prior to this season the impending playoffs have simultaneously gotten me this excited and yet caused the nausea ball in my stomach to blow up so exponentially.
Boston has everything you need for a deep run. No superstar scorer, but they've got balanced offense, a very strong defense (apologies to Jason Arnott & Caps fans, but IMO, Tomas Kaberle was the best midseason/trade deadline pickup of the year). And they've got the best goalie in the conference, if not the league.
But, boy, did I start having flashbacks last night! (Granted the game was far more important to the Rangers, who are just fighting for a spot, but still).
Really, there's only one way to describe it:
"I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so.....scared."

The fact that Pittsburgh has racked up as many wins as anyone in the East without having Crosby since January and Malkin since February is ridiculously impressive.
And Crosby will almost certainly be back for the playoffs.
So yeah, they're scary.

Really Hoping Carolina can get a pair of wins and sneak into the play offs over the Rangers. Really hope the Devils can hand them a loss on saturday.

Seriously Carolina. You need to win to make the play offs and you give up 3 goals int he first period to a lightning team who is locked into the 5 seed?! Do you even want to make the Play offs. Guess Caps are going to have to beat the Rangers.
Wouldn't surprise me if any or all of the lower seeds won their first round games in the eastern Conference.

I'm really nervous about the Rangers without Callahan, although Drury's return is somewhat encouraging. Should be fun going against the Caps.

The Blackhawks made that about 28 million times more interesting than they needed it to be by losing to Detroit Thank goodness the Wild didn't mail it in and denied the Stars the regulation win they needed.

And Jason Arnott proves his worth again. That was a veteran's play by Arnott, and a hell of a shot by Semin.

Hawks lose again to go down 3-0 to the Nucks. I knew they were in trouble after only being up 1-0 despite dominating the first period, and they were. Their lack of defensive discipline ended up not costing them last year because they had the offensive firepower to get away with it, but this year they don't. Well, such is life.

Looks like the Rangers and Capitals are trying to set some kind of record for combined fluke goals in one playoff series.
