No, they come in with immediate eligibility, but for only two years. Doesn't this depend upon whether the juco player spent one or two years at the juco? My understanding is that if a juco player comes after one year at the juco, he still has three years of eligibility remaining. I dont know the rules but it would seem to me that if a player left JUCO after 2 years they would have "graduated" so don't need to sit but have lost 2 years of eligibility. If they leave JUCO after 1 year wouldn't it be a "transfer" and they would need to sit out a year but still have 3 years of eligibility?

probably about time to cross Robertson out. Could revisit things in the spring, but there's nothing there as of now.

It isn't the same talent, but I don't think GU can count on Sims' production. Too many ifs...
therefore, I think you replace him with Robertson. A smart, 6'10 big with work ethic and athleticism. Hell, he can't be worse than HS at this point.

I say that because the staff hasn't been in contact with Robertson for a while now.

I think it'll be a 2012 kid. I'll guess either Robinson or Pollard.

Searched the board, saw some mentions about his attendance at MM, but who's Pollard again?

Devonta Pollard. 2012 wing from Mississippi. Top 50 kid.

Only Division 1 players are subject to sitting out a year. A juco player leaving after 1 season would have 3 seasons of eligibility left and could play right away. At least I am pretty sure that is the case.

Andre Drummond
Man Child. Biggest Bigg Big man we can find. A physical specimen typ. huge wingspan, long legs and strength/agility at a young age. The #1 recruit #1 Center in 2012. No replacing Monroe with 3 6-9 PFs we need one really great stand out cream of the crop recruit like Drummond. Already a beast inside the paint with his rebounding and shot blocking ability. Toughness and tenacity to be a dominant inside player. Shows a natural feel for the game with good timing on shot blocks and explosive leaping ability and runs the floor like a deer. Did I mention a huge wingspan (7-feet-plus). Has multiple growth spurts in him and could end up well over 7-feet. Right hander who shows a solid form on his shot. Ally oops and put backs post skills and overwhelming defense.
Thats who are next recruit should be.

Sounds like Drummond doesn't like being pigeonholed as a traditional center. I wonder where a big man could go to school to work on becoming a better all-around player. Hmmm....

While I think our chances at landing Drummon are slim (just given the enormous competition), one positive is that the impending sactions coming down for UConn will help everyone else's chances to sign the best big man from Class of 2012.

There are rumors swirling about Drummond doing one year of prep/Europe/JUCO then going pro. I think we'll continue to recruit him. I don't think it's likely he's a Hoya in the end.

Nothing wrong with giving some love to Drummond (he is probably a one-and-done) and continue to pursue top bigs of 2013.

I predict Slimetucky, unless they have joined UConn on the hit list.
I agree with id. Just get Ochefu.

Drummond seems like a one and done at best.....I agree most of those guys seem to head to where ever Calipari is at this point. I would love our next recruit to be Kyle Anderson--seems like a perfect fit for both sides and he would be the type of guy that can be on the floor with many different roster configurations--he can be a big guy with a smaller lineup or a "smaller" guy (meaning playing a 2-3 role or maybe even a 1) on a bigger lineup.
I know Ochefu is a big target for many here--I know he is supposed to be a great player. I tend to think we need to address some other areas however. I was hugely on the bandwagon for us JTIII and staff needing to pursue bigs.....well, since that time, we have gotten verbals from Hopkins, Bolden and Adams. Now, I think a priority needs to be at the 1 and 3 spots. Whatever we do, it is good to feel like we are back on the positive side of the recruiting road......things were a little bumpy there for awhile (at least for those of us who really knew nothing about what was happening when it really comes down to it!), but overall I like the way the team is headed for the foreseeable future.
