Nice find! A big who can dribble and pass, and has high basketball IQ, intelligence and unselfishness will have a field day in our offense.

ESPN had this to say about Ochefu over the weekend:
"• Class of 2012 6-10 center Daniel Ochefu (Westtown, Pa.) is a true center that has continued to improve. He has a good basketball IQ and terrific upside. The latest list for Ochefu is Georgetown, Temple, West Virginia, Virginia, Villanova, Texas, Kansas and North Carolina. Ochefu scored 20 points in the 54-51 loss to Life Center (N.J.)."

Not surprisingly, we're gonna have to beat out some of the very top programs for Ochefu. Let's get'er done!

I believe the first two are your leaders.

If that is the case he is coming to Gtown. This kid is not going to Temple. I believe the first two are your leaders.

Even though they have great programs, based on what we are hearing about wanting to stay local, you have to think that Texas and Kansas have a bit of an uphill battle.
I know no one likes to acknowledge it....but the more we win and the more success we have, the better our chances with guys like Ochefu.
In the end, I hope he realizes that player and school are the perfect fit in this case.

IMO, those 2 programs won't be players, either..but mostly because Texas already landed Cameron Ridley and KU is the perceived leader for Kaleb Tarczewski.

In today's Scout article, Ochefu says he's "wide open" on schools. Claims offers from Hoyas, Temple, Texas, Villanova, WVU, UVA, Penn State and Rutgers with interest from UNC, Kansas and Florida.

Wide open or not, people in Philly think it'll come down to GU and the Philly schools, Temple and Nova. Nova just offered recently. I think they waited too long.

If you are a big man and go play for Jay Wright--you deserve the mediocrity that follows. Mouph Yarou has shown flashes--but he's a medicore big right now that doesn't possess the offensive ability of Julian Vaughn-despite being more talented.

RDF-- I actually like what I've seen from Yarou in terms of development. He's significantly better than he was last year (though a decent amount of that is how he's filled out now that he's got a year in school + away from his illness) and has shown more moves (still not many) than he did last year.
If he keeps that trajectory up, he'll be a force as a senior and maybe even as a junior. If Wright ever teaches his guards to give him the ball, that is...

I'm trying to think positively about him and our chances but recently there have been too many cases where we were on someone early, seemed possibly to be ahead, but ended up second.

While totally separate topics, I agree with both Jersey and EE. I think Yarou has made decent progress from last year, and it wouldn't surprise me at all that if he stays four years (as I expect he will), by his senior year he will be much better than Julian is this year. Time will tell.
Being mentioned first is nice, but weren't we also typically mentioned first by both Tyrone Johnson and Christmas? It certainly beats being mentioned eighth, but it's no indication that we'll get the player.
