Smith Rivera's mom talked with Jeff Borzello about him re-opening recruitment. Key Hoya-related points:
1. Georgetown was a finalist with Wake Forest when D'Vauntes chose Xavier. 2. Georgetown will be visiting/watching him play this week (makes sense since Hoyas are in Indiana today/tomorrow) 3. Same schools will be involved in recriutment-with some additional schools/open to some schools recruiting him.

Bump on this.
Saw on the All-American Championship that he is still uncommitted. DEFINITELY fills a need.

Nice catch Deacon. And nice job Coach Hunter.
Glad we're on this guy - he's a combo guard with nice size who can score with the best of them. Pretty much perfect for filling out our roster.

DVauntes SmithRivera @dvauntes44 DVauntes SmithRivera Shoutout to Coach Holland of UCLA, and Coach Hunter of GEORGETOWN for showing love at the workout this morning.. (SOLD) Either Brad Holland is a UCLA assistant (don't think so), or this kid doesn't even know Ben Howland's name. Which is good for us, I guess.

He'd already be ahead of Larry Drew on the depth chart, right?

Brad Holland was a pretty solid guard on the UCLA teams of the late 70s. played for a year or 2 in the league and has coached off and on for some of the alphabet california teams. Must be back at his alma mater with Howland.

It could have been auto-correct on his phone then. Now I'm not sure this kid has the twitter chops to hang with this team, Trawick will have his lunch.

Very impressive today. Showed a knack for scoring around the basket, hit a few jumpers and didn't force anything. Actually tried to get his teammates involved instead of just jacking up ill-advised shots everytime he shot it. Very cerebral and plays at a nice pace.
First time seeing him, but from what I saw, him and James Robinson aren't in the same league. I hope we make him a priority in '12 because he can play both guard positions and is very talented.

Liked his game but shorter than I expected. Would be surprised if he's even 6'1". However, he's effective and looked like somebody whose game will translate to the college level. Ben Gordon type scorer, doesn't seem to have PG mentality despite PG height. As such, seems like a guy who will end up being a very productive 4-year player somewhere.

Also, wasn't as chunky as I expected. Bottom line: he gets stuff done. Pitt has made al living off these type of kids for years.

Looked great and lost weight added from torn ACL last Spring. No way in hell he's 6'3--but was shooter as advertised.

He's physical which makes up a little for his size and quicks.

While not his listed 6'3", he didn't look small or small enough that his size may be a hindrance. I'd say he looks like he's Wright's size, which is fine by me since he apparently wants to play the point.
I also think he showed a high basketball IQ and seemed to want to get his teammates involved. I think he has the type of mentality you'd want from a point at Georgetown and I'd take him in a heartbeat.
Hope the staff stays on him.

Rivals:
Smith-Rivera was at the top of his form when we watched him Saturday. His strength and quick burst get him wherever he wants to get on the court. A power guard with a gift for scoring and beating his man with his strength, Rivera-Smith had his shot falling from a variety of areas on the court.
