compared to the past; he was and never will be a true hoya in my mind, but maybe we are living in a time where the definition of a hoya basketball player is changing................

Key phrase: "in my mind." Given that standard, anyone can deem someone a "true hoya" according to your own definition. So it doesn't really matter.

Mods, time to ban sixer - he just implied that SSHoya's mom has had multiple abortions.

Yeah, if that's not an ad hominem attack, I don't know what is.
Nice knowing ya, sixer!

I guess my humorous retort demonstrated the ridiculousness of sixer's definition of a "true Hoya." Sixer's response reveals that he, clearly, is not a "true Hoya." (At least in my mind. . .)

But I am pro choice. Am I a true Hoya? I was thinking the same thing, but maybe SS considers "true hoyas" those that don't denigrate fellow hoyas' mothers with insinuations about past medical procedures of a specific and controversial type.

Brasky, you are correct, sir. It's not about the issue of pro-life/pro-choice. It's about the ability to engage in rational discourse in a civil manner without resorting to ad hominem attacks. Sixer's response reveals his true character (or lack thereof).

In other words, you can disagree without being disagreeable.
It was fine (even though sixer never explained what he thought the definition of "true Hoya" was) until after SSHoya's post about being born in Georgetown University Hospital. Then sixer starts attacking with suggestions of live grenades and abortion insults. Pretty ludicrous, and I've seen some ludicrous stuff on this board.
I guess this blow-up is increasing my post count... glad an admin hasn't locked it and banned sixer... yet...

I heard Greg Monroe does not like Chicken Madness, and therefore is not a true Hoya.

If he was worried about the CBA--then best way to assure you'll get paid--return to school, be the #1 overall pick and you will get paid. He is taking more of a risk coming out this year in terms of his immediate financial status. If he goes lower then top 5--and near 10-12 range--he'll get less then he would've next year if he was a top 3 pick. He wanted to leave--so he left. The last sentence is probably the only one that's correct in your analysis. I doubt the CBA influenced Greg all that much. That being said, I would be surprised if there isn't a drastic cut in what players salaries can be in the new CBA (including rookies) and I would bet that, and the prospect of having to choose between only playing/getting paid for half a season next year b/c of a lockout or staying until the 2012 draft (if that's an option) factored into quite a few players decisions to declare. Certainty is a valuable thing.
