Well, we didn't eat the banana. We just sucked it.

trust me - ohio could've beaten kentucky today. That's outrageous. I really hope no one honestly thinks that. Our defensive performance was one of the worst I've ever seen at this level. Yes, they shot amazingly well. But if we play even mediocre defense you can knock off about 20 points from their total.

Anyone who is "walking distance" to The Tombs just barge in and plant yourself at the bar and begin drowning your sorrows from this season.
That was heart wrenching.

No change in defense, we kept waiting for them to miss. We were zombies. No pressure but tons of turnovers, sad, just too sad for words.

Don't blame III, don't call for change, GU wasn't perfect, we had our limitations - problems against quick guards and athletic 4s. But again, they hit their threes...this is a lot like the Marquette game.

Ohio in the second half: 9-14 on 2's (64%), 5-7 on 3's (71%), 16-20 from the line (80%). And that's with 3 Hoya blocks. Overall, 19-33 on 2's (58%), 13-23 on 3's (57%), 20-26 from the line (77%). If they shot it, it went in. In tempo-free terms, the second worst defensive performance of the year, behind only Notre Dame. Shame to waste hitting 14-21 of the second half 2's like that.

Ohio certainly played well tonight. Really on their game and made shots that they probably do not usually make. Credit to them.
BUT, the Hoyas played no D at all. I think III can see clearly what he needs to bring into this program, heart and passion for playing basketball. Guys that want to get after it on both ends and love playing, and playing hard. You have to question if some of these guys want to play everynight. Do they LOVE the game. CW certainly does and he shows us what that looks like everytime he is on the court.

It's not hard to hit wide open shots, give Ohio credit for playing very hard. But this was a Georgetown loss. Average high school kids who never sniff D1 basketball hit a good percentage of open shots...

The Hoyas needs a defensive player like Gene Smith.

But again, they hit their threes...this is a lot like the Marquette game. I still don't understand this complacency. Why is every other top program allowed to expect better, but the second it's called for from Gtown, people panic and think that any team without a 'Thompson' coaching it will automatically slip into the Escherick years? If we want to be an elite program, we need to act like one. There needs to be accountability for underachievement.

III is a good coach. We need better rebounding. Also, our switching defense wasn't working. We should have switched to fighting through picks.

After watching what we did in the last 2 NCAA's with Hibbert and Monroe, 2 of the best big men in the country those years, maybe star big men aren't the way to go with this offense since we can't seem to take full advantage of their talet.
Maybe we go the route of recruiting a bunch of 6' 7" athletes who can play on the wing and be good defenders, like Hollis. Who knows at this point.

Painful. But not nearly as upset as I thought I would be. This team was just fatally flawed - desperately needing some high energy defenders/rebounders like PE Jr. I think Coach wished/hoped Benimon was that guy, but he just isn't good enough.

i have nothing against Monroe, but at this point whether he stays or goes is of zero consequence to me. we can make the nit or lose in the first round of the big dance without him. not like we were knockin on the door to greatness with him. we been great at times this season, and squeamishly bi-polar the rest of the time. so far jt 3 has not done much with the players he has recruited most of his success was with players recruited by esh. to me thats still a question left to ponder during another long dreadful offseason, is can he recruit and get success on the court with players he personally brought to the hilltop? another season in the books, see ya in november.

III is a good coach. We need better rebounding. Also, our switching defense wasn't working. We should have switched to fighting through picks. As I've said, I like III, and I think he's really good for a program that's seeking to go from struggling/ mid tier to the upper level. But once there.... is he really worthy of a program that wants to be a top 10 team in the country? Why can't we have an elite coach? Tonight just affirms that he isn't capable of the motivation, in game adjustments, or leadership necessary for a top team. I hate to say this, but.... Boeheim, Calhoun, Coach K have never had a team play as unmotivated and underachieving as our guys tonight. It's ridiculous to give III the same immunity that those guys get.

So disappointed. Really thought we had flipped the switch/turned the corner to playing consistently well. This will take a while to get over. Guess I don't have to miss my daughter's lacrosse game on Saturday. I cannot comprehend how our guys could come out so flat. I know OU was hitting everything, but we should've stopped some of those WIDE open threes. Lots of blame to go around. At least Florida lost.
