Just ran into Huggins and his team leaving the arena. Huggins was crossing 7th with a beer in hand. Not much to do with tomorrow's game but makes me glad the Hoyas have JTIII.

Heh.
If UWV gets past us tomorrow, they will not only have incredible momentum going into the tourney but will have made a great case for getting the last #1 seed. Hoyas better come out fighting tomorrow....

Big fear for tomorrow night: Greg putting the ball on the floor too much. This is NOT the team for GM to go Magic Johnson on (sorry ProfHoya). WVU is long and will make us pay for sloppy ballhandling.

Any thoughts on the crowd we should expect tomorrow? WVU filled the place up tonight but i have to think a lot of georgetown alum's will get in the mix tomorrow.

WVU is a very good team. Da'Sean (fighter of the Night'Sean) Butler is one of the best players in our venerable conference. They are long, athletic, defend very well, and rebound the hell out of the ball.
It's hard to get a read on how we match up with them, simply because last game was such a odd one. Playing without Austin was killer. And we looked listless for the first 20 minutes, which may have been illness induced, I dunno. And I can't tell whether we made a run to close the gap because we always do in the 2nd half, or because they were so far ahead they stopped doing the little things.
That being said, I think there are two keys to the game. First, we must take care of the basketball. They are going to contest our shots, we cannot give them added help by turning the ball over the way we did in the first matchup. That absolutely destroyed us early on, and we have to be more solid there. Second, we have to rebound well. Maybe not beat them, but at least keep pace. We do those two things, and we've got a good shot. Or Austin just goes bonkers and carries us to victory. Either one is fine by me.

Watching game tonight I did not see a lot of offensive flow except a lot of moving picks. They do that really well to not get those called as fouls. They do rely alot on rebounding and are very good at getting inside position. My major concern is stamina. This will be 4th game in 4 days for Hoyas. WVU will be playing its 3rd. It looked like ND players were tired at the end especially Jackson. Leave it all on the court guys then you can rest until next Thursday/Friday.

This will be a tough one but we've got all the momentum going. WV is good but they lack scoring consistency and are prone to droughts for extended periods of time...why you see them coming back in the ends of games a lot. Huggins is a good coach and I fully expect wVU to come out ready to get at it tomorrowm, probably some see some sudden traps, a lot of changes on defense to keep everyone guessing and not getting into a rhythm..They'll be ready to board tomorrow, but if Greg can hold it down as of lately and we can get some good contributions from jason and freeman and good D by vuaghn, gotta like our chances. I think we're possessed to win this thing no matter the costs, and everything is clicking perfectly for us right now...i mean we handled a decent USF ream, beat cuse in a game that wouldnt have even been close had we made some free throws, and simply blew marquette out of the garden...I expect WVU to hang with us and make it close, but I see us comiing out on top 77-64

To win tonight, we just have to continue to do what's gotten us to this point:
1) Take care of the ball. 10, 11, and 9 TOs the last 3 games for us, and it's not only given us more shot attempts, its also forced teams to beat us in the halfcourt rather than transition. As far as I'm concerned this is still objective #1 for us.
2) Defend like hell and limit second chance shots. USF shot 29%, Cuse shot a high percentage but gave it up 17 times, and Marquette shot 37%. In the last game against WVU, they shot lights out from everywhere early, but definitely cooled off in the second half when we began to make our run. As many other posters have already alluded to, they are not as solid with their offensive execution as we are. We need to make sure to take advantage of that and clean up on the glass.
3) Continue attacking the rim. CW has been a master at this all week, and the other guys have been following suit. More dribble drives means more layup and kick outs to wide-open guys on the perimeter. WVU is long and athletic, but their team speed is not better than ours.
4) Stay disciplined. For the last two games foul trouble on our key contributors hasn't been as bad as it has been at times this year. We've eliminated many of the silly (and unwarranted) touch fouls out on the perimeter, and that's been essential in order to stay aggressive and contest shots without worrying about foul trouble. Considering we've already seen Hess and Burr this tournament I would not be at all surprised if we got Cahill for tonight. Greg has to be EXTRA careful that he doesn't pick up cheapies (that usually come in pairs on successive possessions) that might send him to the bench. In short: a foul that prevents a guy from getting a layup/dunk = good. A foul 40 feet from the basket = bad. We've been great at this in this tournament, and we need to be great again tonight.
LET'S GO HOYAS!!!

I love the confidence we have right now. Just gotta keep it going, not only tonight, but into next week.
The last time we played this well in the semifinals (WVU in 2008), though, I thought we really played with a sense of entitlement in the finals, and Pitt beat us up. If we keep playing the way we started in this tourney, we'll be okay. But, this WVU reminds me of Pitt in those years. They really bang and find ways to cause defensive matchup problems.

#1 vs #2 SOS . We need to work on the boards in this game. Butler will get his but Ebanks is the guy that I see giving Hoyas trouble. If we get the same game out of JV tonight we should be ok. Hope AF is holding up with all this run but no reason to question him.
Just hoping the Hoyas fans at the Garden make a presence. I know WV will w/ guns blazin'

Give me a team on a hot streak any day - but I'll take a 1 pointer tonight - if we win going away, tanto mejor!

WV had better hope that the Hoyas don't play tonight like they last night, because they have no chance. Last night's Hoyas were more reminiscent of the Bolshoi, than say, Kentucky. That said, the 'eers took a tough Notre Dame squad out of their mojo last night, and whupped us a week ago. Huggy'll have all sorts of stuff hidden in his silks to help him through. Bottom line, WV will have their chance to D us down, if they don't, the rampage continues.

Hoyas are shooting 49.9% on the season -- before last night. That is 4th best in the entire country. AND -- we did it against the #1 SOS in the country!
Here's the amazing stat for me. It is only 9th BEST in GU history! That is amazing. I wonder how many of the better years are under JT3?

If the Hoyas can win four games in four days, with the fourth coming against a Top 10 team built the way WVU is built, I will be extremely impressed. That's probably more difficult than reaching the Final Four.

WVU is a solid team, but we play our game and we win.
They are good on defense - very good - and it will be tougher for us to finish around the rim. That said, they remind me of Cincinatti, who we HANDLED four games ago. I think this team is completely different from the one they beat two weeks ago - and them not realizing that fully might really work to our advantage.

...I'm scared. They are a long, athletic team that I really don't think we match up well against. Butler is playing really well right now and I feel like we don't have anyone to stop him.... This is how I felt going into the first game... I had this feeling that they were going to run their sets and score, and there was nothing we would do to stop them - and that we wouldn't be able to score on them. Given how we're playing now and how Freeman is due to change a game, I would burn last game's tape if I were on the WVU team/coaching staff. It's a whole new night, and now that we've been playing consistently and to our potential, it should be a great game!

West Virginia opened at -2 for tonight (if gambling were legal). This is like stealing money. Load up on the hoyas (hypothetically).

Scared? Puh-lease. We're rolling. WVU is a good defensive/rebounding team with few offensive options and they've looked pedestrian the past 2 games. We, on the other hand, look like world-beaters the past couple of games. We need to keep our D tight and I think we're in good shape. Should be a close game but I'm not at all scared of WVU.
