I think this season will kind of be like the 05-06 season.* Both teams did/ are struggled down the stretch. If we win on saturday both teams will have ended the season 2-3. The 06 teams rallied and made the semifinals of the BET and almost made the finals( we shall not speak of that game). Then they made the sweet16 and almost beat the national champions to make the elite 8( again we shall not speak of that game). I think this team can make a similar turn around. We can make a run in the BET and the NCAAs. Hopefully this years team gets a couple more breaks and can get a little further. The season isn't over folks! I hope everyone turns out on saturday and cheers on the Hoyas to victory! Those who jump off the bandwagon now are going to be kicking themselves later this month! * I know it's a fool's errand to compare current seasons to past seasons. I know none of the comparisons are ever close to accurate. HSB, against my better judgment I share your optimism. I get the impression that with the deflated expectations due to the recent poor play, the team is going to start to play looser. IF Austin comes back full strength (and I have no idea whether that is realistic) then the recent confidence building minutes for Hollis and Vee should help us out a lot going forward. Let's turn the page...tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your season Hoyas!

I have great hopes that all of this will bring these guys even closer together, and will raise the focus and intensity to the type of level we have seen only sporadically so far. Gotta believe in the power of the Hoya.

From Andy Katz: "Thompson said part of the reason for the Hoyas' inconsistency -- they've lost four of their past five games -- has been a flu bug that affected much of the team."
Confirmed, so let's get off the players' backs.

Driving down to the game tomorrow morning with a few friends from Philadelphia. Does anyone know any good Hoya bars to go to before the game near the Verizon center?

Pregame speech should something like "Austin will be fine but don't make him have to carry you."
It is time to win a game with defense and rebounding.

Time for our guys to take back the momentum of their season! I predict they will come out strong today and deliver a big, season-ending victory!

It's not a good game in terms of TV coverage, but lets analyze today's game re: 1. Defensive effort (in particular, easy lay-ups allowed and if our guards just extend the arms while opponents are blowing by); 2. Rebounding effort and positioning; 3. Lazy passing around the top of the 3-point arc which leads to easy lay-ups (BE teams with good coaches are teaching their players to cheat on our passing around the 3-point arc. Key to steal: play close to our guards; key to not get stolen: better and smarter passing); 4. Use of the bench; 5. Exploiting match-ups, if given the opportunity; 6. Good shot selection; 7. "The Hibbert Bump" - that stupid variation of "The Villanova Bump" committed by our bigs using their bodies to bump the guard with the ball about 37 feet away from the basket) which almost always leads to a foul called and foul trouble for our bigs; and 8. Hollis shooting when wide open (I've seen him pass up too many oppostunities lately).

Cincy's zone looked decent in the stretches of the Nova game I watched. I've gotta assume we'll see a bunch of it today.

Austin just being there should give the team and the crowd a boost. Let's go Hoyas!

hell yeah! Go Austin!
Let's do this Hoyas! No excuses -- if Austin's strength and determination can't fire you up, nothing can! Go out there and stomp these effers!
