ive seen wvu fall in love with shooting threes during the few times i watched them play if they are contested threes...i like the hoyas chances What if they are threes in which two of our guys sprint out and jump wildly at the shooter even though the ball has already let his hand? LOL. Don't forget that it's always our 4 and 5 doing the wild jumping, to ensure that there is no one taller than 6-4 available to rebound. I have a very bad feeling about this game. This would be a rough matchup even at full strength, and we are pretty banged up.

Since this game is basically meaningless, I'd like to see JTIII use it as a teaching/experience/testing game. If someone throws a fullcourt pass off the backboard at a crucial moment, bench him for the rest of the game and get Vee in there; if someone gets beat on defense two or three times in a row, sit them down; if a small lineup is not working, try a big lineup and vice-versa; if a guy is so sick that he can barely reach the rim on a free throw, think about not playing him; give the green light to the guys standing alone at the top of the key with the ball to shoot it and send others after the rebound; etc. Just try something different with this team. I don't know enough about Xs and Os to make any really dramatic proposals on how we change things, but there has to be something different in addition to just changing around the players.
Losing on the road to WVU is not going to matter, but finding answers to some of the issues that have been plaguing this team might be useful over the next month. I know this sounds like a rant, but this is our last chance to shake things up. After this, we need to beat Cincy to get some confidence going into the tourneys.

vee needs to play in this game....bottom line, esp if freeman is less than 100%. Come out play HARD...that's really all i want. Not the result that I want to see it's how we play

wow - this board has all the excitement of a rectal exam. Unfortunately we have been taking our cue from the team lately. Sloppy performances and inconsistent results make it hard to get fired up.

With Austin out, the bar is raised even higher, but one thing this team has done well this season (Cuse games excepted) is rise to the big challenges.
They don't get bigger than this one!

I, FOR ONE, AM READY FOR HOLLIS THOMPSON'S COMING OUT PARTY.
Morgantown will prove to be a brutal home environment, though.

If we won Saturday I would have spent the rest of the weekend on the Internet reading everything I could find about college basketball and would have been up until 2 a.m. last night reading the WVU boards. Instead, we lose and look awful and I don't start to get excited/fired up about tonight's game until mid-morning today. Doesn't make us bad fans, I don't think!

All I want to see out of this team is for them to come out fighting like their backs are against the wall, because there backs are against the wall. Anything else is a bonus, imo. I would love to see them out there playing like they have nothing to lose, playing aggressive and physical, and clawing away at every possession. IDK if thats what will happen, because this teams never played a game where they have had a serious disadvantage going into the game, so we will see.

If JTII were coaching this game, he would draw a technical or possibly even be ejected. I'm not saying that ever worked or it's the right thing to do, but I also wouldn't mind if JTIII tried that as a motivational tactic even if it's not his personality. Then we could look back 3 weeks from now and say "JTIII's ejection from that West Virginia game was the turning point ...". Wishful thinking.

This is probably the most depressing pre-game thread I've seen in a long time. And that includes last season.

Agreed, can live with whatever result, if we lay it all out there. Will say alot about where we go from here, either way.
