Great game and outcome. It would be great to push SU toward a 2 or 3 seed so they can maybe lose a shot at the Buffalo site for the NCAA's.

I was hoping Cuse's karmic retribution for the UConn game would come on Thursday and not today, but oh well... never going to complain when they lose. Also reminded me why I'm not sad we don't see Tim Higgins at our games anymore. Way to decide the game.

Cuse probably overlooked the Cardinals after their embarrassment of a performance at MSG and with Round 2 of the Superclasico on tap for this week.

It doesn't help us for Thursday, but it was pretty beautiful to watch Louisville carve up that zone in the 2nd half. It's always a good day when Cuse goes down.

Am I the only one who wouldn't have minded SU winning? Yes, I don't like them, but their schedule is just so darned favorable we'd have to pretty much win out and/or win the BET to finish above them in either the BE or the NCAA, while we could fall behind Louisville (only 1 conf loss difference) if we stumble (vSU, @louisville, @wvu) and they play well.

Don't overstate the significance of the Higgins call. Cuse was already in trouble having to foul. Whether intentional or not, Ville was going to the line with a 2 point lead and the shot clock off. The Orange would have lost anyway.

People will say that this puts Lville on our heels and Syracuse more focused, but the fact is that Syracuse looks a lot more human and it makes you think the race is far from being settled.

The Hoyas continue to have ZERO breathing room in the Big East standings. Seeds 3 through 7 are all within one game of each other with Louisville's win. The Cards probably have the most difficult schedule remaining (Georgetown second toughest) and Marquette the easiest. We've got the tiebreaker over Pitt, MU has the tiebreaker over us, and our games with WVU and Louisville remain. Any loss will be rough. Any unexpected loss will be devastating.

And we're one good week from making it 2 through 7 separated by 2 games. Big chance to knock the Oraange back into the mix. They have Villanova and Louisiville left to play.

Higgins call didn't effect the outcome. Louisville hit both free throws after the intentional call but they would have had those free throws anyways. The intentional foul gave them the ball back. They got fouled and then missed both free throws.

Tim Higgins needs to retire, along with the dozens of other NCAA officials who don't seem to understand their role in this game.

Some of you clearly have an easier time than I do erasing the January 25 beatdown from your memories. Cuse is JTIII's kryptonite. I'll continue wrapping myself in a blanket of low expectations about the game Thursday, thank you.

i think the passing template that louisville is a great blueprint for beating the zone

Have you already forgotten the absolute drubbing we laid on them last January? Granted we don't have the Belorussian Bomber this year, but I am confident that we will be prepared on Thursday.

JT3 is 2-5 against SU since becoming our HC. That is not exactly impressive on its own and is not much better than Scottie's record against us. Fair is fair. We need to kick butt today and Thursday.

I count three wins against the Cuse since JTIII took the helm, all at home. I also count zero losses against the Cuse at VC under JTIII. It will be a battle, but don't overstate the "ownership".

You have to account for the fact that with the exception of last season, we were the better team every year. The year we went to the Final Four, for example, Syracuse was the only Big East that we did not defeat. So there was the one great upset win by us last season, and then a whole bunch of upset wins by them going back to 2006. Throw in the fact that we looked utterly lost against them on January 25 after the first 3 minutes or so, and you can understand my expectations.
