Great article thanks boz. Crazy list of names on that wall.
So borrowing the whole equation notion. The people appear to be numbers that jacob is plugging into an equation. His nemesis seems to be trying to take out or corrupt his different combination of variables so he can't solve the equation. Now is there only one combination of numbers that would work and Jacob doesn't know what it is so is trying lots of different ones?, or have there been many combination that would work, but the nemesis has taken out the variables before the "equation" could be solved?
Locke-ness is definitely spinning truth and lies together in this episode. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I'm going to bet any amount that #42 Kwon is Sun. They didn't give Kate a number and it would make Lost totally sexist if they screwed both of their female leads out of a number.
I don't even know what having a number means, but I just know that know no writer wants to see the number of blog entries about no women getting one.

And for a little fun: neverseenlost.wordpress.com/2010/02/02/introduction/The reviewer is a person who's never seen an episode of Lost and is watching/reviewing season six. One of my favorite lines, from the episode one review: "Everyone seems unfairly angry at [Jack]. If you pitched an idea to me that involved setting off an H-bomb on an island, you’d have to have A LOT of factual support for me to go along with it. And if it didn’t work, well, I don’t think I have much right to point the finger."

So far this last season of lost has mirrored the first. 2 hr premier followed by kate centric and Locke centric. If the pattern continues which i'm positive it will, we're in for a jack centric episode. So I expect to see jack's off island adventures: Is he married? How's that life going for him? It seems like his relationship with his dad was still contentious since he wanted to bury him right away still. I also expect us to return to the temple on island.

Could they have made the temple a little less cheesy? Boiling red water? Eqyptian symbols all over what blatently look like hollow plastic rocks? Even the others don't seem to be costumed/made-up very realistically. The old Darma set designs set a high standard that this season is failing on.
God I didn't miss Claire...at all.

Does anyone know of they showed who number 108 was?
Since this is the number Hurley & Jack were supposed to bring to the island, I would initially guess that this was Desmond (or Penny or even little Charlie), but maybe not. Maybe it's Aaron, or someone else. Since 108 was one of the numbers from the hatch, I think it has to be someone we know, not a new character.
Jack = whiny little bitch. (Oh, and awful father too, just like Christian). And what the hell is Samurai Sam doing at a damn piano recital?? Can someone bring Faraday back from the dead to explain all of this to me? And while you're at it, bring Libby back too.
I think demented/possessed/evil Claire is awesome, but my guess is that there is going to be some sort of method to save her from her "friend." Again, possibly involving Aaron.
I'm OK with the show breaking it's Season One matchup pattern now, thanks. I really don't need a Sun episode next week. Oh, OK, I guess it's important somehow, but maybe it'll be more of a Jin episode, since his situation on the island is much more interesting than Sun's is.

I'm torn on whether Jack is a crappy Dad or not. On one hand, he got his son MLB Network so his son could watch the Red Sox, which is being a pretty awesome Dad. On the other hand, his son likes the Dodgers, which makes him a terrible father for not instilling in him a love for the Red Sox.
One thing I think we can all agree on is that Jack Jr. needs a smoke monster beating.

According to Lostpedia forums, 108 = Wallace. Who the eff is Wallace, you ask? Good question.

I know the show after LOST had Baron Davis in it, but if Gerald Wallace becomes an integral part of the Island's mysteries I'm out.
And if it's John Wallace from Syracuse, that'll make me really REALLY mad.

I think 108 will still turn out to be desmond. I think the wallace thing may have been just to throw off the whole examine every still frame group to save the suspense. Or aternativley it wasn't important at all and the only important thing was for jack to see his number.
I assume who ever is coming to the island has to be someone we've seen before. The lost fanatics would've already known if they had cast a new important character and leaked it on the internet. So I assume it'll be someone we've seen before. The leading candidates in my mind are Desmond, Widmore, Aaron in that order.
Oh that tricky Jacob.
I loved it when the show winks at it's audience with hurley postulating who the adam and eve skeletons were.
I also loved hurley's explanation on why we'd never seen the light house befroe even though the losties have sailed around the island. " I guess we weren't looking for it" I cracked up at that. You know some fans were pulling out there hair at that.
Claire is psycho. Kudos to jin for being smart enough to trick her.
Jack is so totally Emo.
I think the small scene where jack doesn't remember his appendectomy is important. There's something amiss in this off island world. Characters have had moments seemingly of deja vu and now jack can't remember something about his past. Something is a foot.
This season is going to turn out like the last episode of season 3 where we thought we were seeing flash backs and didn't realize till the end it was a flash forward. At the end of the season we'll figure out what this whole other lost is about and suddenly everything will fall into place.
WTF no preview for next week?! You can't show us anything? Next week is probably going to be completely ridiculous.
I think next week we will see a sun centered episode. On island we'll see here and illana reach the temple right before claire locke and jim get there to destroy it.
The lighthouse lends credibility to the theory that the cave might have been smokie's cave and not jacobs. Doesn't necessarily mean it, but it could mean that.

I think we also got a little more hint last night that the parallel universe will end up being more than a "what if" exposition with Jack for a second time having a scar/injury that he can't remember or explain. That tied to Desmond randomly appearing and disappearing on the plane means something is going to give soon.
And apparently Kate did have a number on the wheel. I still think its significant that Smocke deliberately left her out of the candidate conversation and that Jacob didn't invite her to the lighthouse to apparently escape next week's battle

The leading candidates in my mind are Desmond, Widmore, Aaron in that order. Or Walt. I mean Walt could be a nickname for Wallace (I know, this is a stretch)? I don't know why the producers even put a frame on where you could see 108 -- it's pretty easy to film 23 without showing 108, so I'm thinking there must be a reason.

true forgot about good old walt. which could be short for wallace.
ON EDIT: actually it probalby isn't since every other name on the dial has been a last name.
An interesting question though: "did [Jacob] program the lighthouse mirror to be set to those people, or did he just write down the candidates as he saw them in the mirror?"
Also I beleive the Wallace name isn't improtant since it was apparently crossed out. So i assume who ever is coming doesn't have anythign to do with that 108 number. I think the whole point was for jack to see the light house and his name. Cause jacob sure didn't seem upset that he smashed the mirrors.

#108 is almost definitely Jonathan Wallace. I mean if there is any force of good in the universe capable of going toe to toe with Fake Locke/Smoke Monster, it's J-Wall. Been saying this all along, I haven't figured out what the swerve is going to be, but it's definitely coming. Anybody think alt-Jack's wife might be somebody, since they didn't mention her name or show her or anything? I mean, it could be the same old girl, but time wise it wouldn't fit for him to have a son that old, unless he met the girl at an earlier time in the alt-timeline. Just thought it seemed suspicious that they didn't mention his ex-wife by name or show her or anything.... Juliet maybe?

Jonathan Wallace could definitely shoot over the smoke monster. Juliet certainly seems to be the lady of choice on the blogs today as the wife (ex-wife?) of Sideways Jack.

i think jacob was being honest when he told hurely that he just wanted jack to see that he was important. and that the 108 was just thrown in there to have people make erroneous connections, like how it was the 108th episode and all the numbers add up to 108.
I never really liked claire because she is so irrational/emotional and was so singular focused like the kwons. and now i really dont like here character because she is even more irrational/emotional, kind of wish jin had had jason kill her. i think jin is trying to lure claire back so the other can handle her because he doesnt know what to do with her, this is the first logical/rational thing anyone has ever done on the island.
