If Greg would just have gone down to Durham, learned to slap the floor, have group feel ups at every time out huddle and gaze longingly into Count Chocula's eyes, there would be no such questions. I gotta say it. Post of the year.

When do we start considering Austin's draft stock? Is there any buzz or conventional wisdom on him from draft analysts or scouts? Am I crazy to think that if he keeps playing this well through the rest of the season into the post season that he could enter the draft at his peak? For the record, I don't actually believe he'll be at his peak, but familiarity seems to breed contempt fort these scouts. It seems like everyone who stays an extra year hurts his stock even though he improves during that year. Austin Freeman, GeorgetownAt 6-4, 239 pounds, Austin Freeman is built like a Redskins linebacker, but he has proven to be ideal for Georgetown's offense. Because of the number of backdoor cuts and layup opportunities he gets, Freeman is shooing 55 percent inside the arc. That's an outstanding rate for a guard. And his 46 percent 3-point shooting perfectly complements his strengths around the basket. Freeman is not yet a serious NBA prospect because of his average athleticism, but that's not important right now. Hoyas coach John Thompson III is glad to have a player who can make layups and jump shots equally well. Along with fellow former McDonald's All-Americans Chris Wright and Greg Monroe, he's got Georgetown near the top of the Big East. insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4841729&name=nba_draftThanks for the intell, KC. I wonder how much, if at all, conventional wisdom has changed since that article came out on January 20th. Since that article came out, Austin is averaging 19 points per game (15.9 before 1/20), and is shooting 59.3% from 3 point range (45.9% before 1/20).

I don't know, if Kyle Lpwry was such a hot prospect. how can Freeman not be a legitmate pro prospect. I still don't get the Lowry love a few years back. Am I missing something?

In case anyone was wondering, Greg now has 10 double doubles for the season (meaning he still has a shot at catching Sweetney's mark of 16 in a season) after motoring all over Samardo Samuels. He's also averaging 18.2 ppg and 8.7 rpg since the game at Syracuse.
So you know, pretty good.

It looked as if Greg has his worst game of the season last night. Lic, strange timing.

As a fan of the Washington Wizards, I wish we could have gotten Greg. He is beasting as a pro, didn't do badly as a collegiate either. He was the best power forward in that draft, Cousins is a straight mental case and Favors is very green.
Other than John Wall, Greg may be the best player in that rookie class.

Yes, lic, last night's game was very good for Greg; just missed a double double by one reb. His shooting percentage has been looking good (maybe except for that off game).

I argued with Piston fans before the draft about if we got Greg. Most of them wanted Cousins and some even wanted Whiteside. I tried to explain to them that Greg's rep from his freshman year of being to passive was gone and that he mostly deferred to DaJuan. I also tried to explain to them that because of Greg's vision, everyone on the court with him will get better shots. I'm going through the same thing this year trying to explain why Perry Jones will be a better pro than Anthony Davis. I have to remind myself that I'm probably debating with a teenager that only knows ESPN highlights.
