Mikael and Stags cruised to 89-42 win in opening game of Les Schwab Tournament out in Portland, Oregon. Hopkins led Stags with 15 pts and 14 boards. They play tonight--but not sure against who---but I do know that Shabazz Muhammed and the highly hyped Bishop Gorman from Las Vegas are in same event.

from what I'm seeing he also added 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks..all in 16 minutes of work.

DeMatha draws Westview with Austin Kuemper - an Oregon signee. Kuemper had 20 and 15 in the first round.
Hopkins also had 3 assists and 3 blocks.

Is it just me or does it seem like Hopkins hasn't been nearly as inconsistent this year. He's had some huge games, especially for how few minutes he plays and the fact that he's on DeMatha.
EDIT: Okay, McKay didn't have anyone over 6'3". But still, seems like his numbers are getting more consistent.

I've been on Hopkins for not bringing it on a consistent basis in past--but he did exactly what he should do--dominate an inferior opponent and did so in half of HS basketball--those numbers speak to his talent and better focus if you ask me. Excited to see him play St. Anthony's and Kyle Anderson in a few weeks. That was game last year I thought Hopkins was non existent and awful to be honest. Hope to see him more involved/into the game.

what I like is that Mikael is going to be surrounded on this team with guys who more or less seem to be self starters..so he'll either be forced to bring it consistently or be left behind in the depth chart.

DeMatha won tonight in a close contest. Anya had trouble with Kuemper (21 points) judging from the live chat. Not much said about Hopkins - finished with 8 points and 10 boards. Looks like he was limited by foul trouble.
Jairus Lyles has apparently been strong throughout, and he led the way tonight for DeMatha with 17 points.
DeMatha draws Jesuit next - featuring Kyle Witjer, a Kentucky signee.

Is there any way to watch these games live? I seem to recall there being some way in the past.

Well, curse my big mouth. DeMatha beats Kyle Wiltjer and Co., but Hopkins is statistically insignificant (4 pts, 4 rebs, 4 fouls, 26 minutes) and while Wiltjer wasn't great, the entire opposing frontline went off.
James Robinson seems to have almost singlehandedly won the game for DeMatha with 26 points. The team only had four assists.

DeMatha wins the Les Schwab over Bishop Gorman of Vegas (Shabazz Muhammad). Hopkins plays 28 minutes, scores only 6, but grabbed 13 boards, which is nice. Scoring was even across the board for DeMatha.
Anyone know anything about Marcellous Bell on DeMatha? The kid can seem to shoot.

According to Rivals, Bell is 2012. He's only 6 feet tall so I doubt he's a Big East prospect, good shooter or not.

Bell is shorter than 6 feet. Watch some of the videos deacon posted. I like his scrappiness but he's not going to be playing in the Big East.

Bell can shoot, but he's not a lights-out shooter and is about 5'11-6'.
He's not a Big East player.

From ESPN.com:
Hopkins leads balanced Dematha attack
Georgetown recruit Mikael Hopkins scored 13 points and DeMatha Catholic upended Bishop McNamara 64-53 on Thursday.
Jerami Grant led DeMatha with 14 points while James Robinson added eight and BeeJay Anya scored seven.
William & Mary signee Marcus Thornton scored a game-high 22 points for McNamara.

Check out Mikael for your ownself on ESPN Saturday, 4PM, Dematha vs. St. Anthony's (NJ) -- hopefully Dematha will be completing the Jersey sweep by DC area teams Saturday afternoon . . .

That is also Kyle Anderson's team he's playing against. Was game last year that Hopkins really didn't bring it at all, so hope he plays more aggressive/better this time around.

Myles Davis too, who lists the Hoyas in his final four. Nove, Pitt, Xavier are the others.

Thanks for the tip. I am very excited to watch Anderson in particular. His critics claim he lacks quicks and ups. Will be a good chance to assess.

Passes the look test. DeMatha is absolutely putrid today, though.
