I'm hearing possibilities of Mizzou to the Big 10; Arkansas to the Big 12 and Clemson to the SEC; not sure who goes to the ACC if that happens.

Aside from the Texas rivalry, why would Arkansas want to leave the lucrative SEC for the Big 12? If Mizzou ends up in the Big 10 there are plenty of decent non-BCS schools the Big 12 could scoop up to keep their title game- Utah, BYU, TCU, Boise St, Colorado St all spring to mind. Maybe the Holy War folks wouldn't want to split up, but you would have to think everyone else would jump at the chance.

I have heard 2 different National guys who have said that if Missouri goes to the Big "10," then TCU will almost certainly get an immediate offer to replace them in the Big "12" ... It makes sense to me. The question that I have is what exactly is in it for Missouri? Is the Big "10" that much more desirable than the Big "12?"

Texas, A&M, TTU, Baylor, OU, OSU are all Big 12 teams now that Arkansas used to be in the SWC with. Some of their fans wanted to go Big 12 instead of SEC in the first place.

Big 10 appears to be more lucrative, especially if they can get a title game to add to the pie. The Big 10 Network is a cash cow and the conference owns one huge media market (Chicago) and several very strong ones (Detroit, Twin Cities, the Ohio cities, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, etc.). Aside from Texas (which is obviously huge, but couldn't care less about Missouri) and Denver, the Big 12 doesn't offer much, and Mizzou brings St. Louis and half of KC with them to the Big 10. Assuming there are not significant hard feelings (and one never knows), Missouri can still keep their rivalry with Kansas as a non-conference opponent, just like Illinois is currently their big non-conference rival.

Aside from the Texas rivalry, why would Arkansas want to leave the lucrative SEC for the Big 12? Visibility. Arkansas has disappeared as a program since joining the SEC. More money, sure, but against the bright lights of LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, et al., Arkansas is not at that level. Secondarily, Arkansas had a great deal of success recruiting in Texas as an SWC member, and a lot of that dropped away joining the SEC. A Texas-Oklahoma-Arkansas triangle would reawaken this recruiting.

If the ACC needed to fill a hole, I doubt the 4 NC schools would ever go for ECU so that would leave WVU as a target probably.

I'm not exactly sure why any prominent program would want to go "into" the ACC. I could understand some wanting to get out for bigger and better things, but I just don't see much allure to the ACC. Personally, I think the SEC, Big "10" and Big 12 all have a good bit more to offer. For that matter, I think more highly of the Big East as well.

Of course, the last time the ACC lost a team it ended up trading SC for GT which was a net gain in my opinion.
SC left over the ACC having 800 SAT minimums in the early 70s.

ECU adds absolutely nothing to the ACC. And most ACC folks I know would say they already have VT - what do they need WVU for? the rumor about Mizzou going Big 10 and Ark to Big 12 has been around forever. Doubt it but we'll see. I can't believe Ark would ever opt out of the SEC contract. Not even sure how much it would cost them to do it. This is still all about ND.

meh i've also seen articles on other teams sites that talked about uconn being the favorite then it was Cuse. So either they've already been rejected twice and pitt is their 3rd pick or people are just guessing. I lean towards the latter. If someone ahs to leave can it please be rutgers. We wouldn't miss them.
I know it's not possible, but i'd love to restrict the amount of money being made off of and spent on college football. College football is evil and is destroying Universities.

pitt has been the most logical choice all along. very good in both major sports. a natural rival for psu in football.

Except it adds nothing in media market, recruiting areas, etc. I mean, they are adding what, 70% of college football fans in Pittsburgh? It's not like Penn State and the Big Ten Network aren't already there. It makes a lot of sense except in the context of this being a money grab. Basically they get a conference championship.

How much worse of a position would Georgetown be in if we were as relevant as we were during the Esherick years?

Just the day before yesterday the Missouri to Big 10 and Arkansas to Big 12 got some more press. There was apparently an article about it on Sproting News or ESPN. Then the local sports talk show threw out the topic that if that were to happen, who should the SEC look to add. The most common suggestions were Georgia Tech and Clemson. Personally, I think that if that were to happen, then USF should get a look. Florida is certainly big enough to support 2 SEC schools and it would add a nice market to the SEC that it doesn't currently have. From USF's point, I would think they would jump at the chance, and let's face it: USF being in the Big East has never made sense. What is their closest conference foe?
