"D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera '12 is taking an unofficial visit to Georgetown this weekend." according to his mother via IndyStar So I guess we are still involved. Kid is a tough guard-nice player--missed all of Summer with injury--and fact he'll be visiting--as will Ochefu--good job by staff getting to work with the type of elite talent that program needs to be fighting for and is all I ask as a fan--proactive recruiting in a aggressive manner. Good job by Staff and keep it up!

Scout article from Florida site quotes Tony Parker saying:
“I will sit down with my mom and dad and my coach soon to narrow it down because places are starting to come on pretty strong now. I want to figure out where I’m interested in...I know for sure I can't leave Georgetown, Florida, UGA, Tennessee, Duke or Louisville out. They will be on my final list."

That will be a large final list if that is just the core of it

RT @bouncettcaau: Huntington Prep (WV) junior forward Stefan Jankovic picked up an offer from Georgetown today. I don't really follow recruiting, so I had to google this kid's name. Looks impressive, if you believe this WVU board: mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=159&f=2509&t=7083191

RT @bouncettcaau: Huntington Prep (WV) junior forward Stefan Jankovic picked up an offer from Georgetown today. I don't get recruiting at all. From reading this board it seems the staff has offers out to Anderson, Ochefu, Drummond and now Jancovic for the 2012 class. They are also recruiting Ware and possibly his buddy Pollard too. They also have a scholarship offer out to Porter in the 2011 season. According to the scholarship board the team only has 2 available scholarships for 2011 and 12. I gather that Drummond is a long shot but what of the rest? Are they fine with whoever committs from this group?

doubt it. not all offers are commit-able ones. Staff will likely communicate with them where they stand.

Let's say Ochefu and Anderson are the "top" targets does that mean if Porter visits in the spring and wants to committ the staff will tell him they need to wait and see what others are going to do?

I mean in that instance, I would think they'd take Porter. But, None of us know what III & Co's priorities are going forward. (also we never know if a kid actually is offered, they can say they have been, but..)
Anyway, I think most of us wanted to see more early offers thrown out last spring/summer, helps keep you in things and widens the casting net for legit options.
As far as the dialogue that goes on between a lower priority and a staff, I can't say for sure but I'd imagine it's along the lines, of "hey, we really like your game. Keep working hard, we want you and we'll see how things look in the spring." As opposed to an Anderson who could call III and verbal right now (I'm assuming)

Would you explain this further? If we have two spots and extend, let's say, 5 offers, what happens if 3 or 4 of the 5 want to commit? Is there a code of 'recruiting ethics' in this case?

I'd say it all depends on what kids they are. Sometimes it's a matter of first come, first serve. (think back when we were on Kendrick/Roscoe, I'm thinking if one of them wanted the spot, it was first to commit.)
If Anderson, Ochefu and DSR all want to verbal tomorrow, I'd bet they would be allowed to do so and the current roster would shake out to have an open scholarship. is that 'ethical'? depends, but it happens everywhere.
In the case of say a Jerrelle Reischel. he had an offer but was it the first of he or Trawick to pull the trigger or was he Plan B behind Jabril? I guess we'll never know but if he was Plan B, that's an example of an offer being out there but it was contingent on other things/people.
all guess work on my part, since we'll never really know what the staffs 'big board' is so to speak.

Ricardo Ledo just tweeted that he is opening his recruitment back up. I'm not saying that Georgetown will get involved, but I think it's interesting because that was a huge "get" for Providence and Keno Davis.
