I like the idea that he may not be the most well known player, but he just gets the job done. Those are the type of players you need to have on a winning team.

Big picture on 2012 is that, if we sign 4 in the 2011 class, which seems likely, we may have as few as 2 scholarships to give in 2012. Especially if the fairly constant stream of transfers out stops, which would be desirable from my point of view. I don't see anybody we have on the roster now, or are likely to get, going pro as underclassmen before then. I'd hope, if we get Christmas, that he's at least a two year player for us. Clark and Sims would be the players graduating, so, one guard, one big? Small picture: anybody know if we're looking at Nate Lubick's younger brother, who'd be a 2012 guard prospect?

If we get some of the prospects we are looking at for 2011, we will have a team that year that has the potential and a mix of experience and youth to go far. If we do go far, there is room for a player to leave for the NBA early. Especially if we have the chance for an impact freshman such as Christmas, Ty, Thompson, or any of the other players we are looking at

From ESPN.com:
Player to watch
Nerlens Noel (Everett, Mass./ Everett) 2012, PF, 6-10, 210 pounds | Team: BABC Noel was the key to BABC's dominance in the U-16 bracket. His length, agility and lateral quickness allow him to be the team's defensive anchor, erasing teammate's mistakes with his shot blocking. His agility is staggering for a player of his size and length. He is able to run out at shooters and still stop on a dime and slide his feet. Offensively, his game is much improved. He showed a developing jump hook with a high release point over either shoulder when given the opportunity to play off two feet. He has a quick bounce when catching and finishing around the rim as well as a quick spin move into either his dunk or jump hook. Physically, he has a very lean frame that will only support so much muscle, so he would do well to develop a face-up game to take advantage of his quickness and agility.

From the different player threads, we've read that two '12 players (Kaleb T and Janal Ferguson) are claiming offers from GU. It's good that JT3 is reaching far and wide, but if the offers are true, I wonder whether it's a good idea to offer a scholarship when we don't even know who JT3 will sign from the '11 class and what the need may be. Also, now that Coach Kirby is on board, it opens a wider recruiting range which should not be limited by offered scholarships.

lotta kids claim an "offer" when they are just being recruited.....only about 3 of the top top tier guys we're on in '12 can truthfully say they have a scholarship offer they can accept right at this moment.

Ferguson is somewhat of a mystery to me. barely any info out there on him except we got in early and offered. And everyone has him ranked in the top 100, at least.
really no idea, but if there's a kid we could wrap up early, it'd seem to be him.

It would seem as if there's tremendous talent in the 2012 class with mutual interest and that we're involved with a lot of the top players unlike 2011. Go get them, JT3!

Except 2011 started out like this as well. Hopefully the extra year for Kirby and some stability will help. Also, a better end to the season would be nice.

I don't think we were involved with so many of the 2011 from so early.

Without checking the accuracy of this statement, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are wrong. Its pointless to embrace this line of argument -- that we are more involved/engaged with 2012 recruits vs. 2011 recruits. You can credit a lot of things (turnovers in staff, poor performance on the court, bad luck?) to our failure (up to this point) in getting top 2011 targets, but its just plain stupid to say that we weren't "on" the 2011 guys early. So just stop. Its embarrassing.

I said it before and got bashed for it and i'll say it again....the single biggest impact on landing desirable recruits is winning. You go out to davidson, fail to make the tourney and lose to Ohio...the program is going to feel it. We are paying for those losses now. The must make a Sweet 16 appearance this year or else.

Using phrases like "So just stop. Its embarrassing." is embarrassing.

"D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera '12 is taking an unofficial visit to Georgetown this weekend." according to his mother via IndyStar
So I guess we are still involved.
