There must be some mistake. His high school senior year Rivals had him listed as 6'3" and 185lbs. The info on the front page has him now listed as 6'4" and 239lbs. That is a gain of one inch in height and 54lbs in weight in a year and a half. Am I the only one that thinks that is too much for his frame?

Needs to stay away from the cafeteria and too many late night Pizzas.

There is no way he gained 54 lbs since Dematha. Come on now.

Freeman is such and enigma. Sometimes hes hitting 3's and showing off his mid range game. Other games he totally floats or shows up for only half the game. Maybe his weight does hold himback, i mean hes not suppose to be a line backer out there but a 3 guard right?
He never seems like hes having fun out there. That being said hell be a solid four year player

He's a mesomorph by nature, big bones, keeps muscle. Most bball players are natural ectomorphs and have to work and eat like hell to put on and keep significant muscle, not him. He'll always be big.
On the other end there are even some meso-endomorphs like Levance Fields, DaJuan Blair, Big Baby, who have found the right trainer and sculpted their bulk into muscle while keeping the fat off.
Freeman has huge bball IQ and has always scored, I think he's undervalued. He can and does score from anywhere. He also does what he's told, and I think that may be the problem, he's not being used right offensively. I'd say they don't run enough plays for Freeman, but they don't run enough plays for anybody they just kill clock and chuck threes.

Freeman was such a stud coming out of DeMatha - one of our top recruits ever. I really thought he would explode this year.

He's too big. It's blatantly obvious to anyone who has watched him over the last two years and even more obvious if you ever saw him in HS. (I caught a couple DeMatha games on tape, and saw him in the All-Star games.) At this point, it's embarrassing. He has to lose weight if he wants to come close to reaching his potential. He's being extremely unprofessional about this issue, although I blame the training staff for this too. They managed to keep Sweets in shape, they should be able to do the same with Freeman. Kid has NBA talent and it would show if he'd drop 25-30 pounds.

There was more discussion about this on Hoyatalk than any topic since "What do you suppose that double fist play actually means?" ;D

So does that mean that by his senior year, we can expect him to by 6'5" 290 pounds? Paging Oliver Miller, your little brother is calling you.
Jokes aside, Austin has to lose weight.

I'm sorry but I'm not buying this overweight crap. I saw him play in HS (not on tape either) and he was always built like a truck. AF's game was never built on quickness, he's just a smooth shooter who can hit it from anywhere on the floor and mix it up down low. The overweight comments are misinformed IMO. Like maybe if he lost ten pounds we would have won two more games?? Please. Does he have some deficiencies? Sure, but the kid can straight up ball and he will be a valuable Hoya for the next two years. He's too big. If he doesn't lose weight and stays this size, he's a good 4 year contributor.
If he drops about 10 pounds and works his butt off, his game will improve in a ton of areas and he can become really, really good.
It's up to him

Guess i'll have to agree then that he's put on weight. My beef was that his game was never predicated on quicks, but i guess that can pass in HS as a big shooting guard as opposed to the Big East. Interesting, i guess it won't hurt if he dropped 10-15 lbs - at least not when you're a perimeter player.
I still think he'll be a great Hoya when its all said and done.....

If you were here two years ago and saw that picture, you would have said he needed to bulk up to play in the BEast. Can a brother get a table dance!?

Extra weight or not... all I want is Austin to be able to fight around a pick once in awhile next year. That's all I'm asking...

Anybody remember Deron Williams when he was a sophmore at Illinois. Well, he was wide like Austin. He was still a good player but he broke his jaw midway during that season. He had his jaw wired shut and proceded to drop 20 pounds. He came back noticeably quicker. Deron himself stated that after that he learned about nutrition and conditioning since he had noticed the difference too. I'm not suggesting that Austin break his jaw but i do think that the proper diet and fitness plan can help him immensely.

If you told JTIII that all Austin had to do to do to be Deron Williams was break his jaw, I think he'd ask you for a hammer.
