I know this topic has been mentioned before but can someone please explain to me why the BET is held every year at MSG and not rotated around to arenas? It seems every other conference rotates its conference tournament to different locations which is great for fans.
Hoya for life!

The BE is in MSG every year...exactly where everyone other conference in America would hold their post season tournament -- if they could. It is the media capital of the world, the world's most famous arena, and fans from every team in the conference look forward to the annual trip to the Big Apple for the greatest post season conference tournament in America.

The Sun Dome usually has a circus scheduled for early March, so they are forced to settle for the Garden.

SirSaxa said it all, but if I were to formulate my own answer it would be:
Because it's awesome.

Every other conference also doesn't rotate their tournaments, Pac-10 is always at Staples Center to my knowledge. Of course we play at MSG. We're the Big EAST, and we get to play our tournament at the Mecca of bball in NYC. Sorry, but that sounds so much better than rotating through the area.

Who in their right damn mind would want it rotated? That is the dumbest thing the league could do and really--are you a fan of the league?

Yeah, if you have never been, there is nothing like it. MSG and NYC in March is amazing- the Big East actually rotated sites early in their history (Syracuse, Providence)*, but once they settled on the World's Most Famous Arena, they found their home. If the Big East ever has their long-rumored split, the fight for which half gets their tournament at MSG will be huge.
* Providence (1980), Syracuse (1981), Hartford as well (1982).

MSG and the Big East are synonymous as far as I'm concerned.
Anybody think the same about the ACC and Atlanta? The SEC and Tampa? Yeah, didn't think so.
I've been to two Big East Tournament finals and a Final Four. In terms of atmosphere, the Final Four comes in third. I would have paid a very large sum of money to be at the Garden for the Thursday night session for the Pitt-WVU and Cuse-UConn games, and I hate three of those teams.

We'd have St. John's as a pretty big chip in that debate.

FLHoya, fanbase aside, you've gotta respect Huggie Bear, the anti-Jay Wright, who wore the same clothes three days in a row at the BET this year. Strong stuff.

Long ago when I lived in New York and wasn't a fan of any BE team I went with my uncle to some BET games every year just for the fun of it, and this was early 90's when the conference wasn't really good.
Its a New York tradition

Plus, a fair alternative would have it being played in Cincinnati... or Milwaukee... or any of the home-areas in our grossly expanded league.

Yes a huge fan of the hoyas and personally I have never been to BET. I have attended few Knicks games but never BET. I remember once going to MSG during the BET but didn't have tickets but yes the atmosphere was amazing from the outside and just hanging out around the arena. I only ask the question because other conferences rotate and was wondering if this was ever talked about and not trying to talk down MSG.
I guess another reason while watching the ACC tournament several commentators mentioned how empty the Georgia Dome seemed to be during the games.
