We're 3rd in BE standings, above three ranked teams ('Nova, Pitt, UCONN) and above two others receiving top 25 votes (West VA and ND).
Not to mention that we beat ND, Nova and Pitt. If they can be ranked and we beat all of them, what gives?

Are you sure you're looking at this week's poll? I'm only seeing last weeks (which has already been discussed). I'd expect that we get votes, and wouldn't be surprised if we sneak into the high 20s, but it really doesn't matter. As we all know, the polls are pretty much a joke.

I've been looking for the newest poll and ESPN hasn't been updated. Do you expect that major of a swing between weeks? It'd be great to see us get some respect in the rankings, even if they ultimately don't mean that much.
I just feel like a top 25 rank puts us on more of a national stage than being 3rd in the BE.

We're now 7-3 BE (after 2 wins last week) and there's a HUGE difference between that and 5-3. Nova(#25) went 1-1 which will probably drop them out. Maryland (#24) went 0-2, which WILL drop them out. Notre Dame (7 votes) went 1-1 which will either lower their votes recieved or eliminate it all together. Personally, I see us getting like 25-30 votes, so we're in the "also recieving votes" catagory, but I wouldn't be surprised if we were ranked between #20 and #25.

Let's hope for the best.
As a team I see the benefit of being ranked as a mental thing. It would be a good test for this team to feel what it's like to be the hunted and not as much the hunter.

Right now we're still flying under the radar. However, between the reasons listed above and the ESPN piece during College Gameday on Saturday, I think we have a chance to crack the top 25. But we shall see, maybe Holy Cross will get in there after their overtime win against American yesterday instead...

Just keep on winning is exactly right. The polls put a lot of weight on who you have beaten. That is the reason that teams like Maryland and Nova were in there. Maryland with the roadie at Duke, and Nova smoking Kansas at home. To the normal sportswriter who does not follow things closely, that is what gets their attention, not the conference records. Luckily the selection committee doesn't care too much about the polls. The 2001 Hoyas were in the Top 25 most of the year, and we got a 10 seed, which is often times the lowest at large seeding. The Hoyas need to take care of business against West Virginia on Saturday, and I am sure they are not going to sweat the polls.

Georgia Tech should also drop out as they were like #23 and they lost again.

I don't want us to be ranked at all this season until after the BE tournament. I want to sneak around and surprise some people.

Let's win our next three and we'll find ourselves in the top 25.

Sure, but ranking are based on overall performance, not conference performance.

I'm a big fan of flying under the radar. Especially if recruiting is all but wrapped up. It'd be nice to just float into the BE tourney and shock the world!
