Calipari leaving Memphis might actually hurt us with Latavious, because with him there and the new recruits coming in, PT and scholarships were constrained.
If someone like Drew goes to Memphis -- and it's obvious Latavious already likes Drew -- and most of the recruits leave, then they might actually become more attractive without Cal.

disagree sfhoya.
Drew in Conference USA < Drew in Big XII. Assuming it was a three team race, Baylor is now knocked out and the other team has had its value dminished either way you look at it:
From a drew perspective: he's gone from Big XII coach with already solid recruiting class and players coming back next year to Conference USA with not much foundation in team.
From Memphis perspective: All things being considered, I think most kids would rather player for Calipari than Drew all things being equal. The fact that all the big named players have or will jump ship means, Memphis won't have the notoriety it has had in the past.

I think it has a lot to do with why Williams liked Memphis and Baylor. On EDIT: You're probably right. He's from Texas, right, which may mean Baylor was in because of the local angle and Memphis was in because of Calipari and "Memphis." Neither of which will be there in Memphis with Drew. (However, if Baylor was a draw because of Drew, I think my initial point stands).

Maybe it means he picked GU. That results in an instant 50 place drop.

ESPN Recruiting on LataviousEXCERPT Was an ESPN 150 prospect in the class of 2008...Enrolled at Progressive Christian in spring 2008 to improve his grades...Rumors are he may head to Europe next season a la B. Jennings... Also lists him at 6'8, 205 Has an ESPN qualitative score of 90 which would put him at the low end of ESPN's Top 100. But SCOUT and RIVALS have him higher.

Don't do Europe!!! There are plenty of Euros at GTown anyway. Plus, watch the Real Sports with Brandon Jennings.... he doesn't seem to love it. Say it with me.... HOYA... SAXA!!

I am beginning to despise the word rumors, because there are never any good ones when it relates to Georgetown.

I thought he was somewhere else other than PCA. Ron had an interview on the other board. Don't remember Europe being in the convo.

I have no inside info, but given that Brandon Jennings, #1 ranked recruit, really only went to Europe because he didn't qualify... ..I'm going to work under the assumption that Europe is a possible academic fallback option (along with JCs, etc) and not something he'd pursue if he could play in college. I could be wrong.

If someone doesn't qualify and decides to go to a JC, what is the requirement for transferring into a D1 program after that? Just maintain good academic standing at the JC?

If someone doesn't qualify and decides to go to a JC, what is the requirement for transferring into a D1 program after that? Just maintain good academic standing at the JC? If you didn't qualify out of high school, you have to actually graduate from the JC, meaning you have to spend two years there in good academic standing. So whenever you see a player who spends just one year in JUCO after high school, that player actually qualified out of high school and went to the JUCO for more exposure or other non-academic reasons.

Pastner becoming coach of Memphis might hurt us. He was Latavious' recruiter and he's known as a hotshot recruiter. He got most of Arizona's guys and he got alot of the Memphis guys. Plus, he's originally from Houston. Power play by Memphis in an attempt to keep their recruits.

It'll take awhile for Miller at Arizona since the cupboard is bare but he should do fine. I'm sure he'll hire his brother Archie who does alot of recruiting for Thad Matta at Ohio State. Archie used to be at Arizona State so he has contacts out west. Miller also has former Arizona player Reggie Geary on his staff at Xavier so he obviously knows the area well too.
