It also says he'd be playing with Roy in Indiana And now I'm once again thinking about how freaking good we would have been last year with Greg playing power forward. Undefeated? I say yes.

! If he's this good already, I would LOVE to see how much better he'd be with a second year on college.

That is a pretty uninspiring draft board overall. Brandon Jennings, he of the Gumby 'do and the 5.8 ppg and 2.8 apg in Italy, is supposedly the number 5 pick? I know Chad Ford is usually wrong, but that is crazy.

Oh man, no, my heart breaks. If we could have one more year with him, I'd be insanely pleased.
However, I am glad Summers didn't appear on this, and I can only imagine what next year would look like if Monroe and Summers stay (along with everyone else), with Hollis coming in, and, while the loss of Sapp will be tough, but Clark will have a full year of experience...and with how good the team looks even now...I'm getting excited just thinking about that

Interesting. NBAdraft.net has Monroe going 21st in the 2010 draft and Summers going 10th in the 2009 draft. Man it would be nice to have them both around next year.
Why do I get the feeling the better we are this year the worse we will be next year???

My fantasy is that Summers and Monroe make a pact with each other to both come back next year to try to win a title for JTIII (and the school and themselves and Hoya Talk of course). JTIII needs a chance to coach in April!

Why do I get the feeling the better we are this year the worse we will be next year??? If you recruit players with NBA talent, and they meet or exceed expectations, two things happen. 1, your team kicks ass. 2, they go to the NBA after the season and collect their multi-million dollar paycheck. If you want players that will always be around for 4 years, you can't recruit inside the top 15.

Back to back titles for JTIII. The only way I will ever purposely go to Detroit is to watch us win it all in April.

I had Monroe going 13 to the Knicks in that simulator. Greg and Pat on the same team would be sweet!
Still think he comes back, though. No real reason. Maybe I'm just Hoya hoping. But I will be surprised if any player under JTIII ever comes out after their frosh year. No matter how good he is this year, next year he will be even better especially being at Big Man U. Next year's class will be even worse, especially big guys, so he could be a top 5 next year. That's worth waiting for. He's too athletic and too much of an all-around player already to have his stock drop, so it's not gonna hurt him, could only help him.
DaJuan, on the other hand, I get the feeling might be gone if he's a 1st round pick at the end of the year. Just the impression I get from people that know him, no basis of my own. All conjecture.

I remember saying on one of the recruit threads that the danger of recruiting an arguably #1 recruit is that we only have him for one year. Based on what he has done so far - and what in our heads he will do during big east play - i can't see him not being on draft boards throughout the season. It really comes down to, does the kid want to stay for more of college? Does he want to try and accomplish something at g town? On the recruit thread someone shot me down pretty quickly saying that from monroe's comments and such that he seemed more likely to stick around for a couple of years rather than be a 1 and done. I have no real insight into the matter - wondering if someone else on the board does? did he say anything in his recruiting process that would lead us to believe he is going one way or the other? This all understates the point that 1 we should enjoy the current team. I still have faith that JT III will discuss with him at the end of the season his options and what makes the most sense for him, his situation financially and emotionally. Not all players need the cash (but who couldn't use several mil garenteed); not all players are not on a graduating track (they really only take classes to stay eligible. Granted I assume in our program most guys are on track to graduate - but its not a given that they would.

Granted I assume in our program most guys are on track to graduate - but its not a given that they would. Don't have any problem with anything you wrote. Just wanted to comment that under JTIII, if you exclude transfers, every player has graduated or will graduate (Jeff continues to take classes during the summer toward his degree). All 4 seniors last year graduated. Sead graduated. Brandon and Ashanti and Daryl graduated. So did the seniors JTIII's first year. That's not to say there won't be some guys who potentially don't. But classes at Gtown are not token or just to stay eligible, even for the guys that are surefire NBA players. Academics have always been important to our basketball program.

All this talk about losing Summers and/or Monroe makes my brain spin and my stomach churn. I really don't want to think about it until the season ends. If we make a FF run this year and they both leave .... then that's a tradeoff I can live with. If we don't and they leave that would really suck...and so would we in 2010.
