From Insider. We may be seeing this kid next year (just not on our team):
"Since both Josh Pastner and Jelan Kendrick mutually decided that Memphis was not the best situation for the wing's abilities, we haven't heard much in the rumor mill regarding where Kendrick is looking to transfer (despite a short-lived rumor about going to Kentucky). However, Jeff Goodman from FoxSports.net filled us in, tweeting the 6-foot-5 Kendrick would visit Morgantown this upcoming week.
Thought WVU's 2011 recruiting class is deep, it doesn't really rank high as high as some other major conference classes. Perhaps that is because some of the 5-man class are under-the-radar, like Tommie McCune. The addition of Kendrick would give Bob Huggins a big-time scorer and since he would eligible after the first semester, would give a boost to a Big East team that would be one of the deepest in the conference."

Jeff Goodman says Ole Miss, West Virginia or Georgia Tech.
taking a trip to Ole Miss next.
If Andy Kennedy and Bob Huggins are at the top of the list, a lot of coaches must have heard enough to be scared off.

it's such a joke. It's all based on message board crap. Pastner has even said they've never discussed him coming back and kendrick is going to different campuses looking to transfer.
It's all memphis fans getting desperate now that 1 player is injured another left the program and they got embarrassed by kansas.

rivals blurb from today.. "I've been looking around for another school to attend and play basketball at."
Just as when he was a McDonald's All-American in high school, the Marietta, GA native has had plenty of suitors. Right now, he's down to a final six.
"It's between Kansas, Baylor, Georgetown, Ole Miss, and West Virginia," he began. "And put Georgia Tech in there, too."

That's pretty interesting. I wonder how serious JT3's interest really is. We'll just have to wait to see how this all plays out.

If we are still in play, it is because JTIII and the staff are confident Jelan not only can help the team, but he can be a solid representative of the school. As always, trust the staff.

ANyone think Jalen Kendrick was watching tonight's clinic? GU took apart Memphis in the second half -- including out-rebounding them and stepping up the interior D. ANd blocking 9 shots too.
Do you think Jalen was smiling and hoping he gets to be a HOYA?

G tech guys think he is going to either WVU or to them. Cant imagine Paul Hewitt will be at Gtech much longer though.

I would be very surprised if he ended up with us. I've always said he was one of my favorites in the 2010 class but I don't think he ends up a Hoya. The interest from our end is obviously not the same as it once was. I had heard whispers about West Virginia as well but we'll see how it shakes out.

It's down to 5--because anyone considering Georgia Tech and the MESS that Hewitt has on his hands--wow.
Kendrick made one mistake passing up Georgetown--if he's willing to do so again-then it's his loss.
He's been to Georgetown 3 times (at least) so no need for him to visit--the Hoyas are fine without him--and will be-but if he wanted to come/they want him--great. Don't really care either way-love his game--but I like Bowen's potential/fact he's tight with teammates/learning, and I like how this year will help Hoya Staff go into any living room/any position and sell them on strong points of how they develop ALL players--which media is doing a wonderful job of selling on television--mentioning uptempo play, how guys get better with skill set, etc....and that's what you need to have happen to sell the program as perception is more important then reality--even if they are same--to teenagers and those who are involved in recruiting process.

Even NBA coaches and analyst are mentioning the all-around skills brought by GU players. If a recruit (and his family) cannot grasp that, then he shouldn't come here.

RDF-- totally agree. Oddly, in some ways Monroe leaving early has at least a silver lining of forcing people in the media to start focusing on the ability of JT III and the Hoya program to adapt to the talent on hand. No Big Man U this season. Post by committee, an army of quick athletic guards with the green light to go to a quicker tempo game when the circumstances allow and the utilization of full court pressure defense are all aspects of this year's team not previously associated with the Hoyas. The media emphasis on the 3 point shot (which prior teams have certainly done) is due to the fact that the Hoyas have never had so many 3 point shooters on any team as they currently have with this year's group.
