These numbers on age group were obtained in the late August period when Obama was up by 5-7 point.

Gallup, McCain up by 3. www.gallup.com/tag/Gallup%2BDaily.aspxI look for the race, after a few more days, will be essentially even but anyone who doesn't think the +3 or +4 in some of the polls for McCain will not also affect the state's electoral races is kidding themselves. If you see a five point shift national shift out of the Republican convention and don't see some of the toss-up state races not changed, it would be amazing. Now that Gallup in confirming, we can definitely say McCain got his bounce. I don't know about you, but I don't trust Zogby at all.

USA Today/Gallup has McCain up 54-44 in likely voters. However, as some have pointed out, the electoral map hasn't seem to have changed in a while.

Here's a look at the electoral map from RCP www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/Click on the individual states and you'll see only Michigan has a recent poll shown. Most of the rest were back in August. Mayby the state polls will change like the national polls have.

Most of the rest were back in August. Mayby the state polls will change like the national polls have. Ed asks, and pollsters deliver. New swing state polls break down as so: State/Pollster WAS NOW SWING OH Rasmussen McCain +5 McCain +7 McCain +2 MI PPP Obama +3 Obama +1 McCain +2 PA Rasmussen Obama +3 Obama +2 McCain +1 VA Rasmussen McCain +1 McCain +2 McCain +1 VA SurveyUSA McCain +1 McCain +2 McCain +1 FL Rasmussen McCain +2 TIE Obama +2 CO Rasmussen McCain +1 Obama +3 Obama +4 ==================================================== AVERAGE McCain +0.6 McCain +0.7 McCain +0.1 So Ohio's more solid for McCain (Obama might have to concede it at this point), Colorado's more solid for Obama, McCain's lead is slightly bigger in Virginia, and Obama's leads are slightly less in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Florida moves to a tie. Looking at this, I gotta say the Gallup likely voters poll looks like an outlier at this point. McCain's gone up, but not by that much (10 points).

Yeah, I like RCP and 538 a lot. This might be the year a presidential candidate loses the popular vote and wins the EC. (I keed, I keed.)
Republican turnout is gonna be a lot higher with Palin, but it's gonna be in all the wrong states.

McCain gains twenty among white female voters.
The Palin effect is in full force.

Another Palin scandle broke this morning. The Washington Post is saying that she was reembursed for travel expenses when she didn't go anywhere.
Now, I know that the government pays everyone in Alaska just to live there, but this might be over the line.
McCain is doing a good job "changing Washington" by bringing along a running mate that now has allogations, of abuse of power in firing the head of the state police, and misuse of funds for personal use. Are she and crazy old Ted Stevens trying to have contest to see which Alaskan politain is dirtier?

That's quite a "scandle" you're trumpeting. The Alaska Accounting Division has approved the expenses. You might wish to note in your next "scandle" that her family residence is 600 miles away from Juneau.
Keep attempting to hurt this woman and watch her numbers rise.

I don't care what it does to her numbers. Anyone who thinks God is working through her state's oil pipelines is a lunatic and a moron. I still wish SOMEONE would explain HOW IN THE HELL she is qualified to run the country. "Moose hunting" is the new "clearing brush."

I don't think the travel stuff is a scandal (or event a scandle), but this woman is sure lacking the "Practice What You Preach" gene.
If she's against wasteful gov't spending, she shouldn't get herself paid for staying at home - whether it's legal/approvable or not. Fighting against something only up to the point that it benefits you doesn't seem like the hallmark of great leadership.

As I understand it lots of time is spent in Anchorage (naturally) and some at home. I guess she could live full-time in the governor's mansion and charge the state for staff, a chef, utilities, etc.. I bet that would cost the state even more. You're in a rural state. You should know the travel expenses for a Governor of North Dakota, Montana, or Alaska aren't going to be cheap. Still, the numbers quoted in the story don't seem outrageous to me.

More importantly, HOW IN THE HELL is Obama qualified to run the Country?
On Edit:
1. Obama is on the top of his ticket, while Palin, as we all know, is the VP choice on hers.
2. Granted, her experience is limited, but it still far exceeds Barack's, since he doesn't have ANY.
I just don't understand that particular argument. It makes zero sense.

Whatever works. Anything that keeps Barry O out of the White House is A OK with me. That's great. Maybe if we have Palin in the White House, she can just pray for the economy to improve. Considering the only proposal that she and Johnny offered at the convention was making the Bush tax-cuts permanent, I guess praying is a big part of the plan.

Keep mocking politicians who pray. See where that gets you. Back on the subject of this thread, it's possible Washington might need to be added to the battleground state category. www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=7264ba9c-caa0-40cc-a462-b2806a8a809eRCP has a higher average lead for Obama in Washington, but all of the other polls they are using for their average were from earlier in the summer. This is the only one from September & it's showing a trend more than a bounce.

Well, that and their energy plan, which would actually help with energy prices and energy independence thus helping the economy, but you can keep ignoring that if you want.
