Since JTIII is coaching, and a couple (one?) of recruiting targets are playing, thought I'd start a thread on this week's tourney results: Game #1: USA 82, Venezuela 73 ( recap, box score) Ryan Kelly 12 pts, 3-10 (0-3 3FG), 6-9 FT, 10 REB (3 OR), 0 A, 4 TO, 0 S, 27 min Dominic Cheek 2 pts, 1-2 (0-1 3FG), 0-0 FT, 0 REB, 0 A, 0 TO, 1 S, 7 min - Kelly lead the team in rebounding. - The team shot 1-16 on 3FG for the game. - Interesting sequence: "[Kemba] Walker scored the USA’s first 10 points, but the USA found itself trailing early and was down 23-17 with 1:43 to go in the first quarter. Kelly got a bucket and a free throw, while Dominic Cheek smothered his man, came up with a steal and a dunk to pull the score to 23-22 at the end of the period. Next game is today at 3pm EDT, vs. Bahamas Edited to add: Is Leslie McDonald still a recruiting target?

Please post the link to the U18 tournament. What would you like, beyond what I had in the 1st post? Here's the FIBA website ( link) Here's a link to a live box score ( link). 87-31 USA after 3rd quarter (apparently, game time was 2:00 EDT).

59-11 at halftime.
There should be some kind of mercy rule.

Tristan Thompson is leading Team Canada. Wasn't he a GU target?

Rutgers signee Greg Echenique had 25 pts, 15 rbs and 6 blks in Venezuela's loss to P.R.
Gurus, where's a P.R. kid by the name of Steven Miro going? JT3, make the approach.

Based on the results, the US is guaranteed to advance to the medal round with Puerto Rico - today's game is for positioning.
Similary, Canada and Argentina advanced and their game is for positioning only as well.

It was a "placement" game. Let's wait to the medal round before we jump to conclusions.

It was a "placement" game. Let's wait to the medal round before we jump to conclusions. are you suggesting there's a "jumped to conclusion" in my post PRHOYA? And is the PR your initials, your career as a Public Relations expert, or your point of origin in the Caribbean? [full disclosure might give a hint as to what's behind your post] Suggesting that today's game was another blow out (106-64) hardly seems like a jumped conclusion. And asking who the really good teams are while tossing out one possibility? Still doesn't seem like a jumped conclusion.

PR is not my line of work, so there you go...
PR had qualified and the coach was giving PT to all players.
Again, let's wait to the medal rounds...

But a 42 point loss still qualifies as a "blow out" regardless of circumstances. Not sayin' anything against the team or the Island. Who were those two guards at UMASS who killed us in the elite eight in '96? I think both of those guys were from Puerto Rico.
