And then, after some moments of trepidation, I'll tune back in praying that the deficit has been diminished.

As someone relatively new to the board, it is comforting to be associated with the camaraderie felt on this board. Is anyone like me and get so worried about the game, the are afraid to watch? Silly coming from someone who is 54, but I was interested. It is the same for me, and I am 63. Actually, I watched LIVE the Marq and L'ville games. I was actually proud of myself for doing that. But for elimination games, I am a basketcase.

Thanx for the reassurance, Nevada, that I am not the only basketcase. Maybe for Lenten mortification, I will watch tonight and offer it up for the sins of all those who whine about our "lucky" wins.

For those of you not as old as me, GU won the ECAC South in 1975 in Morgantown. In those days, the guy with the musket would shoot it during the opponents' foul shots. That was a one point win with a shot by someone who cannot be named. Forgive my ignorance, but why can't Derrick Jackson be named? www.hoyabasketball.com/features/top100/d_jackson.htm

saxi, you're right, it was the person who cannot be named that won the semi-final game. That's what happens with old geezers, we forget. Thank you.

Hoyavoice- the former Coach you refer to was a freshman guard on the team that beat West Virginia in 1975 in Morgantown to win the ECAC South and earn the elder Thompson's his first trip to the NCAA's. I think the shot you're referring to which won the game was actually made by fellow freshman Derrick Jackson.
See Dan McQ's avatar.

Thank you 2nd Ryan. Am I right in that his shot won the semi-final against GW?

foolishly, I actually think me leaving before the end of the game and checking the score later will help the Hoyas win. I did that during last weeks UL game. When I was a child watching GU, i would be mad and not watch basketball or play at all for days after a Hoya loss. I took Hoya losses personally. I would do no homework the night of a game so I could "prepare" for the opponent.
