Did anyone else hear Bobby Knight refer to Huggins as a 400 lb slab of butter walking up and down the sideline? Yep . . . henceforth "Butterman" shall join "Grabby" and "Creepy" in the annals of great nicknames for slimy coaches.

I think we can, and should beat WVU tonight, but it's going to be a lot tougher than people think. Here's the Hoya Prospectus post from after the game there: hoyaprospectus.blogspot.com/2008/01/analysis-georgetown-58-west-virginia-57.htmlWe turned it over 26.3% of the time in the first half, and our defense wasn't very effective in the second, as we had an AWFUL DE Eff of 116.1 in the second half. We won this game b/c of two clutch plays by Sapp and Ewing at the end, and because WVU shot 52.2% from the FT line (they shoot 68.2% for the season), which was the only reason we were in it. It was also Alexander's second game back from a groin (I think) injury and he only played 26 minutes, though that might have been due to foul trouble (he had 4). Alexander has played 43, 40 and 39 minutes his last three games over 6 days, so he might be tired, but I wouldn't discount him just yet, seeing as how a certain someone in 2006 went 38, 39, 41 in three games over 5 days prior to playing the Hoyas and still dropped 17 pts on 6-10 shooting (5-9 from behind the arc) and 5 assists. Does Alexander have the same demon powers? Probably not, but you never know.

How much would I love it if our band came out, strumming banjos?

Don't forget they took Willie Williams after he had been arrested about twelve times, turned down from Florida State and Florida and kicked out of Miami.

I admit, my defensive appreciation can be sketchy at times, but we're not really a ball denial team, are we? I do like Ewing to make a huge defensive impact. I think he's become the player that he was hyped to be from day one on defense.

SF - I agree in one respect - the Hoyas do not seem to deny the ball into the post as a focus. They are outstanding in ball denial on the preimeter. I would expect to see a lot of fronting and weak side help on Alexander.

frankly, alexander is a poor matchup for uconn. uconn doesn't have a 3 that can hang with alexander. robinson is a great athlete, but is not a good defender and adrien is too slow to deal with alexander's speed.
i like summers and ewing to really mix it up with him and if jt wants to present a different look, put rivers on him for a spell.

Here's another post from the WVA board that illustrates the uselessness of stereotypes. Even Cletus is embarrassed. Posted: Yesterday 5:16 PM
Re: Alright Boys!!!! I want it on record AGAIN!

all that has to be said is there is an entire thread devoted to whether or not the game is on TV. i mean come on
i predict huge intensity from pat, hell be all over the place and there will be a confrontation between him and wv players just because both sides will be pumped up, nothing big just some hard fouls and yelling and such.
this game is going to good and so satisfying once we beat them again

As someone relatively new to the board, it is comforting to be associated with the camaraderie felt on this board. Is anyone like me and get so worried about the game, the are afraid to watch?
Silly coming from someone who is 54, but I was interested.

I do watch with the sound off, however, and not let the play-by-play announcers interfere with my pacing back and forth.
Win or lose, we still have to go to work, but it sure is easier to go to work with a win.

For those of you not as old as me, GU won the ECAC South in 1975 in Morgantown. In those days, the guy with the musket would shoot it during the opponents' foul shots.
That was a one point win with a shot by someone who cannot be named. It's amazing that those who say we are lucky still don't refer to that game.

Your're right, tip. I'll make sure that I leave the room or change the channel if GU is behind.
