Come on, are you guys serious? You lost a basketball game to a pretty dang good team and your response is to whine about the way one guy on the other team looks? I expected more of you than that. You are Georgetown. You have tradition. And losing in the Sweet 16 to anyone is no embarrassment. Responding like this, complaing about his hair ... his name ... his "makeup" ... now that's embarrassing. I wouldn't have expected such silliness from Georgetown. We aren't complaining. We're mocking. There's a difference. We appreciated the BASKETBALL talk from gator fans prior to that game. That game is now over. So we don't really care anymore, and we don't care if you find our jokes "embarrassing". Now go away or Roy will eat you. Fair enough. If all that "criticism" was actually nothing more than attempts at joviality then I stand corrected. It seemed like some were suggesting it in seriousness however. My points were in response to direct theories that you all suggested, as follows: "That you did recruit Noah and that he chose UF" ... The articles I have read indicate that Noah grew up a Hoya and strongly wanted to go to Georgetown and even tried to get you to recruit him but you didn't. "That Noah isn't a team player and animates for the purpose of drawing attention to himself..." I have followed this team all year and have watched/read anything I can about them both on and off the court. I understand someone thinking that he is "drawing attention" to himself, but I can assure you with certainty that that is not the case. It is a by-product of his spontatneous emotions. There is ZERO ulterior motive. "Noah whines about not getting foul calls" Not a single one of us could deny that we haven't at some points thought we were getting the shaft from the refs. Obviously my goggles have a slight orange and blue tinge, while yours reflect an inherently blue and grey hue. I honestly didn't notice many bad calls in our game going either way. I thought they (refs) pretty much stayed out of the way and let the guys play. They pretty much only called the obvious fouls on shots or that caused turnovers. But I understand that we almost instinctively notice every call that doesn't go our way. Accordingly, we will notice everytime a player on the other team complains about a call. Noah doesn't have the reputation of being a whiner at all. The coaches in the SEC have all virtually uniformly commended the guy both on his play but hustle and work ethic as well and have never even hinted at such a complaint. If it were really true, it would have come up before now. "He wears makeup .... he has a pony tail .... he pronounces his name funny ... etc..." Feel free to make yourself feel good with nonsnsical rubbish like this, but understand it only makes YOU look bad, not him or us.

Noah has a French tennis player father, a Swedish sculptor mother, wears a dress and has a ponytail. You are absolutely right. There is nothing remotely funny about any of that. I apologize for my juvenile attempts at making a joke at his expense. How stupid of me. OK, Touche' The way you worded that was damn funny. Incidentally, he doesn't wear a dress but everything else you said was true. If you really wanted to throw fuel on the fire you could point out that his mom ran away for another woman. Yep, sad but true.

Oh, we can't make fun of people on an Internet message board? I must have missed the memo.

The whole Noah thing w/r/t Esherick is easy.
Chronologically:
- Noah loves GU. No one considers him a high major player. No one besides Ivies and mid-majors are recruiting him, but since he has repeatedly tried to get GU to recruit him, that's the only school he notices isn't recruiting him. I am certain Florida did not seriously consider him here. GU should have given him some love, but not an offer.
- Noah blows up at ABCD. Everyone gets on him. No one was on before, but Noah holds it against GU. Actually a disadvantage to being his dream school.
C'est la vie. We should never blow off a guy, and that was bad, but it isn't like Florida was on this guy when we weren't.
As for him, he seems likeable off the court, if a bit Ricky Williams-esque (so he might just quit his pro career to do yoga in India or something). That's not a bad thing unless you're his employer. On the court, I hate when people shout after every play. Which he does. So that annoys me, but I don't think it makes him a bad person.

Oh, we can't make fun of people on an Internet message board? I must have missed the memo. No, that is not allowed under the internet statute 127.9876.333 paragraph c sub-paragraph ii. It clearly states that making fun of someone's name or hairstyle after they whipped your candy a$$ reflects poorly on the one doing the mockery and NOT on the "mockeree."

hifigator - a couple hints: 1) no matter how hard you try, you will never convince every GEORGETOWN fan that posts here to love Mr. Noah 2) one of them smilies is often helpful to indicate jokesterism, for example: or or and finally... 3) most posters here don't ever use the smilies but even so humor is rampant especially when you least expect it, so try to have a sense of it. Telling the board here that Florida "whipped your candy a$$" is getting dangerously close to the line where I may have to protect you from yourself...

The use of "candy ***" opens up all kinds of possibilities for WWF-inspired rants. My $.02 are that hifigator should take Yannick Noah's tennis racquet, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and shove it straight up his candy ***. If you smell-la-la-la what Pops is cooking.
On Edit: That would be quite painful.

Boz, I don't acually know you, but I've become very familiar with your work, and i have to ask: Are you okay with becoming one of those creepy guys that uses a hottie as your avatar, as if to say, "Check me out, I like hot chicks and cold brewdogs." Just curious.

Only Jennifer Connelly. I would never consider anyone else.
If you really knew my postings, you'd know there is a long, long history there, dating back to the previous board.
I can't help it if some people misinterpret my intentions.
(but yeah, maybe I should change that; its a little Comic Book Store Guy creepy....the restraining order says 'no, no' but her eyes say, 'yes, yes')
On the advice of counsel, I have switched to something a little more indicative of my current level of self-image and esteem.

hifigator, are you moving in here? Did Georgetown reject your college application, so now you have decided to become a professional lurker on our board? What gives?
One problem with the written word is that it isn't always easy to perceive the writer's intent. If you have a history of reading people's posts, you can often tell when they are serious and when not. I'm sure you have that experience from the Florida board. Please rest assured that while some of the criticisms of Noah on this thread are serious (and everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course), the comments that you would judge to be outrageous were clearly written in jest (as I thought your candy ass comment to be, but I could be wrong).
Except Boz. He means everything he writes.
And Frank Black. You are lucky he hasn't flown to Florida and killed you.

I think we've reached the end of the line, again.. Rule 3 of the message board warns against repetitive posting. You've had 50 posts to move past your disputes with Craig Esherick, and it isn't working. People are tired of it. So that's it. Enjoy the off-season, but it's time for you to take another break. AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!! STANDING O FOR DAN MCQ!!!! Great to see the luv for Dan! But Boz, where's my luv?? Why the hell do I do WWBH? Just so you can ignore me? LOL!

My only problem with Noah is "Jo-Ah-Keem". Noah's name is pronounced "Joe-Kim" just like that. The boy's name "Joe" and the girl's name "Kim." How bi is that? Win or lose, certain players are for this board like hotel rooms for Johnny Depp, just crying out to be trashed. Check our threads on Reddick and S. Williams or Rat Boy and Tat Boy from 'Cuse. We let Noah off light.

Thanks Admin, Dan, whoever. I have my beef with Esh just as much as the next guy, but there's definitely a point where enough is enough.
As for Joakim, just be thankful you got that disgraceful continuation call at 44 all on Friday night. Because were it not for that, we'd be the ones going to Indy, and all you Gator fans know it.

I actually kind of liked the overall layout decided to give a return visit. I am trying to be as gracious a winner as I would request from others and hope to show all of the "go back to your double-wide" pompous fans from last week that not all of us "crackers" are the redneck ignoramouses (sp?) that they obviously envision. Seriously though, criticism of Noah for his hair ... his name ... his "makeup" ... etc ... reminds me of those "other" uneducated hicks from the south who kept ragging on Matt Walsh for no reason other than his curly locks and his Centerfold girlfriend. I mean, that was uncalled for. I, on the other hand, have the right to cuss him out for being a wuss and a pretty boy ... not because he's pretty, but because he put his looks/girlfriend/future etc ... above the team. Good Riddance Walsh. It looked to me like you guys were lumping Noah into that same mold. Absolutely wrong if you were ... I was absolutely wrong if you were not.

I was at the games this weekend in Minneapolis, and after the G'town-Fla game, but especially after the Nova-Fla game, Noah has become my least favorite player in college basketball, now that Sheldon "the mongoloid" Williams is out of the picture.
It has nothing to do with his pony-tail. It does have to do with the fact that he mugs for the camera after every play. The fact that every time a call goes against him, or he randomly loses the ball or throws it away, he immediately starts stomping around the court with a big scowl on his face, like he's looking for someone to blame. The fact that he lets out a primal scream after making a free throw in the first half, to change the score from 11-10 to 12-10.
Honestly, when watching the Nova game, it really hit me, that this comes from growing up with a tennis background. The celebrations and the antics all seemed to be things that I'd seen before, from Agassi, McEnroe, etc. That's all well and good in a tennis match, when the individual is the thing, but IMO, all of the self-congratulations has no place in a basketball game.
Do I think Noah is a good player, yes. Do I think he's a great player, hell no! He is a quick and athletic 7-footer, and a good passer, but he has pretty bad hands for a big man (lost a ton of balls in the post, but got bailed out by foul calls on half of them), and not much in the way of post moves. I don't recall him making a single shot that was outside of 5', not counting free throws. Honestly, the player he reminded me most of is Chris Wilcox -- not a ton of basketball skills, but makes up for it with incredible springiness and athleticism.
Color me not quite impressed. His skills would be a good match for this Hoya team, but I think his attitude would be a huge detriment.

Check out your own thread on recruiting. I think recruiting is a terribly difficult skill, learned best over time.
The few "stars" coming out of highschool are the subjects of a coaching "stampede", and the players with "potential" (see: NOAH) frequently get lost in the shuffel.
Maybe some of those George Mason guys should have been on G'town's radar, and the Florida coaches make the same mistakes sometimes. Who can really tell what a 17 year old kid will be like in 2 or 3 years?
Good game..............hope to see you guys again next year!!!!!
