It just seems to me that a student section name could get students excited about the game. Especially students who have no interest in basketball. If you have a name for the student section, it becomes more of an elite "club" instead of just a mob of yelling people. This "club" aspect will attract people and get them to go more often. I know the whole "club" analogy is weird, but do you see what i'm getting at? Caddy, this is exactly the kind of stuff I have been working on in trying to increase student spirit and support and I will continue to do so. My main focus first semester was getting the official t-shirts designed and ordered and it was a huge project. Things in our athletic department dont work like at big state schools and its not easy to even get simple things done at times. However, if you never give up and keep fighting you can really begin to turn things around. I also need as many people like you as I can get to help me out.

I think a name has to come naturally -- anything manufatured or forced just sounds like crap. Maybe you'll get lucky and III will say something that works. Think about how well the t-shirt works with III's quote and not something manufactured.
The rejection row thing is cool. It's not a whole studnet section, but still.
In the Iverson days someone found a street sign that way was "Iverson Ct" or "Iverson Ln" or something, stole it and brought it to the games. That was pretty cool, and I think someone found a "Page St" but the tradition sort of died.
There's gotta be a "Green Ln" somewhere in DC. After all, the lane belongs to Jeff.

Yeah, Green Ct is definitely the way to go if this were to be done. NW is actually code for Northwestern High School as well, haha.

Rejection Row is only a part of the student section even if it were to be revived, we need a name for the section as a whole as well.

Looks like I'm a little late on this one, but Caddyshack (also one of my favorite movies of all time), welcome to the club. You're going to fall in love with the location, the people, the college life, and the BASKETBALL as soon as you step on campus.
Likin' your ideas. 007 and I have been working on some stuff, and the t-shirt has been a big success so far. Next year, we'd like to be in some position of authority and really get stuff done to get people even more pumped about our basketball team and our student section. I'd love for us to be as well coordinated and intimidating as a Duke or Michigan State student section. That is our goal.
Not sure about a name yet, there were some names tossed around earlier such as Jack's Pack, Hoya Sixa, and Hoya Paranoia. I don't think it's really essential that we have a name, but it'd be nice.
(Edit: And by the way, in the picture on 007's posts, I'm the crazed wacko on the right.)

Don't know exectly whats gonna happen, but I'm still leaning towards something more like the latter. Maybe we'll be in a position to just take over HB and gut it next year, but I dont know. Either way I want this to be all prepared over the summer and by the time we arrive in August we have to hit the ground running. I will make sure to keep you involved and Im looking forward to your help.

For the Roy fans: "The Doctor's Office" - everyone where's medical gear or Dr. Hibbert masks.
For the Green fans: "Greenie's Meanies" - I'm thinking maybe an Oscar the Grouch theme.
For the Wallace fans: "Wallace's Army" - Lots of Scottish gear, blue Braveheart face paint, and get MCI to play the Braveheart screams again when people need to be fired up.
Welcome to the ranks of "Church's Choir" and "The Thompson Towel Team".
CaddyShack - Welcome to Georgetown. Keep in mind this is a chat board so as the season goes on you'll see a lot of positives and negatives. But at the end of the day we're all huge Hoya fans. And you couldn't have picked a greater place to go to school.

I am trying to learn how to play the bagpipes in part because it would be heinous to blare those at the opposing bench when they are huddled in a timeout (the other, more primary reason, is that I am Scottish and my ancestors, like Wallace, fought for Scottish independence). Maybe I can lead the charges in a few years once I get the pipes in order and create a little group for Wallace fans. As for the Scottish gear, I am not quite stocked, although I have some preliminary pieces that could be quite good. I will no longer be a student by that point, but one need not be a student to sit in the student section.

have to say -- alot of your guys stuff sounds lame, but jersey, the bagpipes would be unbelievable - especially if you got the full scottish gear
and that braveheart graphic needs to come back, as does the old guy who says, "get up, and come to the window, and shout...LET'S GO HOYAS!!"

The best tartan I could find for a GU outfit was the 1279 MacCallum High School tartan. One can find it if you search on www.houseoftartan.co.uk. Then again, we could design our own and register it.

Caddyshack, some of the best times you have in the next four years are gonna be in the stands at the MCI Center. I liked it so much I'm working on year number 5 in the student section right now. I'm also in the picture 007 has on his posts: if you look just above Kurt's middle finger on his right hand...no, scratch that, it's a tuba. But it IS the tuba I sit NEXT TO, so that counts for something!!
You know what you should try to do is come to DC in the next couple months for a "campus visit" that coincidentally falls on the same weekend as one of our home games coming up. Trust me, there's plenty of students on this board who know how to take care of visitors. I know CAHoya and hoyabinx and all the other folks who came back to campus early for UConn had themselves some kind of good time.
Congratulations on coming to Georgetown, love your enthusiasm already, you'll be an awesome addition to the crazy folks down front.

hey 007, I'm willing to bend over backwards to get people into the student section next year. Actually, I'd love to help anyway I can to get shirts made, distributed etc,...You let me know and i'll do it . Also I will be visitng campus on February 24-26th, and i'd appreciate anyone giving me a tour of some things that i might not be able to see at open house. I can understand if you guys have tests and stuff (plus, who wants to be seen with a high schooler), but i just thought it would be neat.
one other thing, when i come visit, is there anyway i can get a WE ARE GEORGETOWN stuent section shirt? I see those things at the games and i want one so bad to wear around my school here. Thanks a lot.

Sounds awesome Caddy, can't wait to have your help around here. A tour might be possible, we'll see what we can do.
As far as a t-shirt, I'd be happy to get you one to represent up in Michigan. We're almost out of them but I'll try to keep one aside for you.

Caddyshack4 (I thought Caddyshack II was bad enough, perhaps in the future I will just call you Noonan)- By any chance are you 6'9" with soft hands and serious hops? Maybe you are not big on playing the summer/AAU circuit but you just grew 6 inches in the last year and would consider walking on and backing up the 4 and 5?
Regardless, congratulations on your acceptance and welcome to the Hoya family- you are getting in at the right time for a hoops fan and I am happy to see there we are still getting kids who know a little about our tradition and are ready to be a part of the return to glory.
