Since JTIII started as coach there have been a number of new great traditions:
1. WAG shirts 2. Jeff Green's Mom 3. Roy Roy Roy (rocky theme) 4. Using the term JTIII 5. Nodak songs 6. Rich Chvotkin drinking game
and probably others I can't think of. When I was in school I can't remember anything like this. I think these traditions have been a significant part of why winning has been so fun and why the most recent sweet 16 felt a lot different than the 2001 sweet sixteen.
These are the kind of thing that can't be forced they just kinda happen, but unless I'm wrong there hasn't been a new one in awhile - am I missing any new ones.

I kind of like the consistency they're building in the MM event. Also like the idea of the special ceremony to honor NBA Hoyas with the jersey unveiling like they did last week.

I credit Esh with the Chvotkin drinking game. Sure, it happened while JTIII was coach, but if Esh hadn't driven the program into the ground, there is no way so many of us would have been listening to Rich (instead of watching the games on ESPN).

The Hoya newspaper prints out "BEAT X" in huge letters over two pages and HB hauls them to the game for all the students to hold up. After a win these can be found hanging up in random places on campus sometimes. They did it for Duke and Pitt so far.
Plus III brought the We Are Georgetown chant back, thats another obvious new tradition.

All of these are great.
I don't mean to nitpick, but I wouldn't call "Roy Roy Roy" a tradition. It is a chant someone (brilliantly) crafted for one player; not so much a tradition that will stick with our program with or without Roy.

Agreed, if the Roy chant is a tradition, then so was groaning at Kevin Braswell throwing up an unlikely 3 pointer with time winding down in overtime.

This will depend on time and the make-up of future teams, but I really hope that players participating in on-campus events is a tradition that got started. Jeff, Jon, and Tyler were at EVERYTHING last year. Pat has been joining them a lot around campus. I just feel like it would be an awesome tradition-ish thing if students could expect our most visible and widely popular sports stars to come out and be a face at some of the campus goings-on that are less heralded than their ball games.

I kind of like the consistency they're building in the MM event. Also like the idea of the special ceremony to honor NBA Hoyas with the jersey unveiling like they did last week. I was really pleased that they did that. It's certainly a strategic move when you have over 15 of the top recruits in the country in attendance. Perhaps now it can become a part of the MM tradition, since there will once again be additions to the wall (there were not during my four years on the Hilltop). Also, the Roy Roy Roy to Eye of the Tiger came from a Starbucks commercial, did it not?

And next - per Coach's request - the return of the Hawaii Five-0 theme . . .

i'd add camp-outs at McDonough for post-season tickets. each one last year (BET, Regionals, Final Four) was unique and had its own vibe and highlights, and they kind of grew and built on each other. visits by team members and Coach (sometimes including special deliveries of food) obviously became major highlights and are an aspect of the camp-outs that i sure hope continues in one form or another.

Hoya Blue roadtrips have become a staple of basketball season.
I agree with sead43 about the "Thompson Town" McDonough campouts. As far as atmosphere goes they're tough to beat. It seems like they got bigger each time, and every time they did it more and more players stopped by to enjoy the fun. Hopefully the trend continues this year!

How can this not become a tradition?
Or possibly substitute a different monument/embassy/landmark/major tourist attraction.

Wearing gray at games (related to the WAG shirt tradition mentioned above, but students wear other gray shirts besides the WAGs). Jack and his box attacks the return of male cheerleaders Rival Reels (I hope this continues)

exposing sixer for all of his false predictions, lies, reversal of opinions, etc.
(Ok, I guess you need more than 2-3 months of the aforementioned nonsense to warrant a tradtion)
