Has anyone seen Lic to make sure he is OK?!?!?!?!?!!!!! Bananas!!! I agree. Someone is going to have to break it to him that we recruited another non-7-foot player.

This is great news.
As a committed recruit, what interaction is he allowed to have with the coaches/team? I know the CW and AF were behind the bench at a lot of our home games as they began to immerse themselves in Gtown basketball. From Summers' comments on media day(they are picking the style up a lot faster than he did as a freshman), it seems to have paid off. Due to geographics, I know we won't see GM at many games, but can III give him drills to work on? Talk to his HS coach? ...?

Do we know if he committed immediately following MM or sometime today? That would be awesome if he just walked up to III after and said "count me in"

Maybe he flew to Duke, drove to Coach K's house and asked to use his phone!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! blog.nola.com/tpsports/2007/10/monroe_commits_to_georgetown.html"The surprise announcement by Monroe, a Parade Magazine All-American and Louisiana's Mr. Basketball as a junior, came shortly before Monroe and his mother, Norma, boarded an airplane for a flight home to New Orleans following a three-day visit to the nation's capitol. "(Georgetown) just felt comfortable to me,'' Monroe said briefly before boarding his return flight from Washington, D.C. "I was comfortable with the style of play.''

I loved the "Style of play" quote. That will be huge for us and will be quoted and repeated by media types.

And congratulations to Mr. Monroe. Welcome to the Hilltop.
Who was the last No. 1 recruit for Georgetown? Alonzo?

It was a surprise because he was predisposed to attending Duke.No onr gave Hoyas a chance cause most didn't do their homework. They just went off of what the other "experts" (see Jerry Meyer) were saying. Only in the last couple of weeks did people start to take notice. Its funny how the kid kept mentioning GU, but no one thought they were a factor until late.

This is great news to wake up to on the other side of the world!
A huge round of applause for JTIII and his staff. They set their sights on Monroe and got their man. This will be 3 years in a row where we've landed some of the top recruits in the country, and it just keeps getting better. And he's doing all this with our current facilities - imagine what he'll be able to do with the new facilities!
The sky is also the limit as far as what we'll be able to accomplish with these new star recruits. In 3 years JTIII has rebuilt the program on the backs of guys that nobody else seemed to want. Roy Hibbert, Jon Wallace, and Jeff Green were hardly seen as a formidable trio when they first showed up on the Hilltop, but their hard work and JTIII's coaching turned them into 2 (likely) NBA lottery picks and one of the best floor generals in the country. If JTIII can get that much out of that trio, imagine what he'll be able to get out of some of the top recruits in the land.
Finally a hats off to Hoya Blue and everybody else involved in Midnight Madness. You guys obviously put on one heck of a show!

The Athletic Department deserves a lot of credit, the MM went flawless and was well executed all around by the staff.
