First CBB tournament in the Barclays Center? Iirc, another conference will play their tournament there but it won't be open this year. Either way, I'm excited to christen it in Hoya Blue.

UK will help open the Barclays Center, the soon-to-be new home of the New Jersey Nets, when it plays Maryland in the Barclays Center Classic on Nov. 9. Also featuring Long Island vs. Morehead State, the Classic will mark the first college basketball games at the $800 million Barclays Center, which opens in September 2012.

I'm guessing this will be a 8-team (maybe 16) type tournament? Either way, kc's post says, "The remainder of the field will be announced later."

If I remember how they worked it...its a 16 team tourney and the other 3 teams at our site will be lower conference teams. Iys basically 2 lay-up games so they top 4 get to the final site kinda like the preseason NIT.

Iys basically 2 lay-up games so they top 4 get to the final site kinda like the preseason NIT. In the Legends Classic, the 4 host teams are guaranteed a spot in the final site. Vanderbilt actually lost to Cleveland State this year in one of the two games it hosted; it then went on to beat Oregon State and NC State in East Rutherford: "The format for the 2012 Legends Classic, which has fast become one of the nation's premier early-season college basketball tournaments, features 12 teams from across the nation competing in the fifth annual event with Georgetown, Indiana, UCLA, and Georgia hosting regional round games from Nov. 11-15. The four hosts will then advance to the Championship Rounds on Nov. 19-20 at Barclays Center, located in the heart of Brooklyn, N.Y., while the remainder of the field will participate in subregionals held at campus sites." www.gazellegroup.com/events/legends/index_main.htm

This is why the whole idea of being "afraid" to schedule Maryland is a joke.
JT3 comes up with good schedules every season.

Just got an e-mail solicitation:

Sorry if this was out already

I must have been asleep I missed the whole earlier thread. More strong OOC games, very nice way to toughen the team for a big run next year.
