www.gazellegroup.com/events/legends/index_main.htmThe format for the 2012 Legends Classic, which has fast become one of the nation's premier early-season college basketball tournaments, features 12 teams from across the nation competing in the fifth annual event with Georgetown, NCAA Sweet 16 participant Indiana, UCLA, and Georgia hosting regional round games from Nov. 11-15. The four hosts will then advance to the Championship Rounds on Nov. 19-20 at Barclays Center, located in the heart of Brooklyn, N.Y., while the remainder of the field will participate in subregionals held at campus sites. So you are right Jake - 8 other teams - 6 named, 2 still TBD

This says ND State: www.wday.com/event/article/id/62687/Included in CBSSports' handy and indeed comprehensive "2012-13 Comprehensive Early Season Events List" are the other six preliminary teams in the Legends Classic: LEGENDS CLASSIC (Barclays Center - Brooklyn, N.Y.)Dates: Nov. 19-20 Teams: Georgetown, Indiana, UCLA, Georgia Others: Duquesne, North Dakota State, James Madison, Liberty, UC Irvine, Sam Houston www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/18787724/2012-13-comprehensive-early-season-events-listGeorgetown plays 2 of the "others" at home between November 11-15. Gotta figure it'll be Duquesne, JMU, or Liberty...my bet's on the latter two.

North Dakota State was 183rd in RPI this past year. They were made up almost entirely of sophomores and freshmen though, so they may improve.

The Hoyas semifinal opponent will be UCLA. This should be a great early season test. UCLA has a lot of talent but will they be a good team that early? Time will tell... "The Georgetown University men's basketball team will play UCLA in one of two semifinal games of the Legends Classic on Monday, Nov. 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game between the Hoyas and the Bruins will air live on ESPN2, following the first semifinal game, featuring Indiana and Georgia. The first game tips off at 5:30 p.m." - www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/072612aaa.html

We have good anecdotal evidence that that will help them.

I think we'll beat UCLA which is great because then we'll get a shot at likely pre-season #1 Indiana.

It is better to get UCLA early while they are still figuring things out because once they do they will definitely be tough.

Not having Reeves Nelson 2. a doctor for all their injured players 3. a lock on Josh Smith's fridge. There was an article about Josh Smith in the LA Times a few weeks ago. It sounds as though he may finally have his head out of his rather ample posterior (no guarantees, though). Apparently he's radically altered his diet and lost quite a bit of weight. I believe he's still pushing three bills, though.

I frankly hate UCLA more than any other programin the country....including Syracuse. They've become a "win at all cost" program and they recruit dirty. Their alum has deep pockets and boosters have much too much contact with recruits. That said, they will be very tough to beat.
UCLA - 7 McDonalds All-Americans Georgetown - 0

Hoyas will beat UCLA. It's the perfect draw because the avoid Georgia. Beating Indiana would be nice but just playing them will do wonders for the RPI and SOS.

UCLA will be a crappy defensive team. This is most likely true. I don't see any defensive stoppers on that roster at all. They should be able to score with just about anybody, though.

That will benefit Gtown whos defenses have been in place pretty early in years past. While the offenses havent been as crisp. I think Gtown can beat UCLA, but I dont think they can beat Indiana. I see Zeller causing a lot of problems and Gtown wont have a good match up for him down low. But I dont think it will be a blow out, less than a 10 point loss

We will beat both UCLA and Indiana. We have a better team chemistry, better defense, bigger size. Shabbazz got nothin on my homie Otto. Greg will dunk on KA all day err day. What now? Otto will dunk on Zellar's face if we face Indiana. Easy easy.
