Yes, lic. It is like the new maui format or the other tourneys that start the season--Hoyas play two "tourney" games at home and regardless of the outcome, go to Brooklyn with the other name teams to play two games. SF on the 19th; final and consolation game on the 20th. Sometime in September the organizers will announce the pairings for the 19th.

It's really not that complicated, lic. The preliminary games are just for show. Think of it as a four team tournament.

As far as the four team tournament goes, there is no chance in hell that they match us up with Georgia in the opening round. We'll either face UCLA or Indiana the first day....my hunch is UCLA.

You would think so, but I've watched this tournament for the past couple years and the match ups usually don't make sense. Most tournaments make it so the best teams are opposite each other, but a couple times this tournament has put the best two teams in 1 semifinal and had two nobodies in the other semifinal. for instance: in 2009 the 4 schools were Florida, Michigan St, Rutgers and Umass. yet the semi finals were Florida vs. Michigan St and Rutgers vs. Umass.

Included in CBSSports' handy and indeed comprehensive "2012-13 Comprehensive Early Season Events List" are the other six preliminary teams in the Legends Classic: LEGENDS CLASSIC (Barclays Center - Brooklyn, N.Y.)Dates: Nov. 19-20 Teams: Georgetown, Indiana, UCLA, Georgia Others: Duquesne, North Dakota State, James Madison, Liberty, UC Irvine, Sam Houston www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/18787724/2012-13-comprehensive-early-season-events-listGeorgetown plays 2 of the "others" at home between November 11-15. Gotta figure it'll be Duquesne, JMU, or Liberty...my bet's on the latter two.

Ok, maybe I'm having an lic moment, but I'm confused. Does each of the four primary teams play two games prior to the games in Brooklyn? If so, then why aren't there eight additional teams rather than six? Six additional teams makes no sense. Is JMU going to play both us and Georgia?

I believe it is similar to the Maui format No, it's not, we only played one "mainland" game prior to Maui.

Based on last year, I'm pretty sure there will be eight "other" teams. So I'm guessing that they either forgot to include two of them in the CBS article, or that two teams have not been decided yet.

This might be the reason we can't play the game on the Midway on November 9 in San Diego. Logistics might be difficult to return to DC on the 10th and be ready to play - possibly as early as the 11th.

I would guess it's a way to play 3 games as part of a "tournament", have them count as 1 game for scheduling purposes but not have to book the Arena in Brooklyn for 4 days
