The rumor-mongers saying that "ESPN will air the story tomorrow" makes me think this point-shaving thing is pure tosh. If there were something to report, the sports media would be all over it NOW. Also, as satisfying as it would be to gloat over the b-ball apocalypse that would result for the Orange if the rumors were true, it would ultimately be a very bad thing for college ball, the Big East, and our rivalry if the speculation turns out to be anything other than complete nonsense. I don't think it would mean much long term. Their season would collapse, but they'll still pick up quality recruits, and they'd be back in the hunt within two years. PR-wise, it would be a black eye, but that would fade quickly. Look, Mike Vick just got out of prison, and he's returned to prominence without a bump in the road. I don't think Syracuse, the BE, or college basketball would fall apart if this were true. It would just be an awful year or two for Syracuse.

Anyone know what Henry Hill is up to these days? He's out of witness protection and IIRC ESPN interviewed him about the BC scheme a few years ago or so. I think people are underestimating the seriousness of this rumor. This is death penalty stuff imo.

A few jerk players going rogue isn't going to be the end of Syracuse basketball.

This rumor is truly a mess. I could see a newsroom holding this even if they have some nuggets on it - lack of confirmation. The snark/fear among SU fans right now is incredible. I could buy the idea that something is being investigated but doubt highly that there is some smoking gun to be reported tomorrow. It looks like Scoop deleted his tweet about playing for free, but I am not skilled when it comes to reading Twitter pages. There are tweets like this that just seem strange to put up unless you're confident in what you've heard (unless the CBB rumor world is really that bad: twitter.com/coachtuk

Neither team was impressive, at all. As far as Macklin, someone else wrote this recently and I have to agree -- his game has not progressed at all since he left GU. I know he won't get much sympathy here, since he left GU, but from all accounts he was a really good kid, so it's a shame to see. He missed 2 free throws with around 3 minutes to go in a close game, then I don't think he made it in for the rest of regulation and the entire OT.

Donovan kept him on the bench, even with both of Vanderbilt's centers fouled out.

I've seen a number of his games and thought the same. It's a tough situation. You get these kids that are told that they're awesome from the time that they're little and expect, by the time they get to college, that they're entitled to playing time. IMHO, the best thing that could have ever happened to Ticket would be to go to a school where he had to work for any time he got and he'd only get time by improving. I'm not saying that school had to be Georgetown. Only that he needed way more work on his game than he probably thought or anyone around him told him he needed. I remember being sad hearing of his transfer but not for our team but for him as I think we all realized it was due to PT. He, more than most guys, needed the practice in becoming a player. Georgetown could have given him that. I hope it works out for the kid but he set himself back by transferring.

The twitter of the "reporter" that broke the news no longer exists either.
Seems like it was bad journalism but unfortunately for Cuse, Scoop responded, so its a national story.

It definitely sounds like something that got started when a frustrated cuse fan expressed a sentiment like. "I can't believe we're this bad, we must be point shaving, that's the only way we could possibly losing this much" And then it spread like wild fire from there.
It seems like many cuse fans would rather believe they're cheating than that they're bad.
The best thing is this story could end up rattling the team and causing them to continue to suck. Maybe the players turn on each other because they suspect that their team mate doesn't have the team's best interest at heart.

I'm just afraid it will galvanize them with a mentality that: "Let's never let anyone ever think we're not giving it 100% ever again."

Yeah hopefully now on every play, instead of just using their experience and instincts, the Orangeboys will be thinking "If I make that pass/Take that shot will it look like I'm shaving?" But for the record, as much as I hate all things Orange with every fiber of my being, I do not believe this weak rumor for one nanosecond.

We could use a win by Marquette over 'Nova tonight. And let's go SHU. Spank some WVU butt for us.
