The offense was set up like this: 4 guys stood outside the 3 point line, 1 in the post. We'd mostly pass it around the outside, and on occasion go into the post. No high post work at all.

Good call on us biting on too many fakes. There were times were it seemed like half our team was in the air at once on D. On one play in particular, Roy's man beat him under the basket, but was probably going to get swatted or have to make a really tough shot over Roy. Instead, Crawford came flying in and fouled the guy, and Roy was visibly Editeded and yelled at Crawford.
Sorta strange that while we showed too little aggression on offense, we often showed too much on D.

Actually, GIGA, we passed a ton and barely dribbled and jacked at all - it's just that we rarely made any pass that advanced the offense. It was mostly just lob the ball around the 3 point line. No cuts either.
Edit - I agree with Lic below that Tyler's shot didn't look great. I thought he was rushing it a lot of the time. Basically, Tyler is a guy who should be playing 15 minutes a game for hustle, rebounding, and defense. We need to be able to generate enough shots that he doesn't need to take anywhere near 8 threes in a game.

Spann didn't play either.
Up:
Rebounding and FT shooting
Down:
Pretty much everything else. Hartford packed the box around Roy, and we spent lots of time passing the ball around to no avail, leading Sapp and Crawford to attempt 13 threes. There were a few times where there were huge lanes to the basket, but nobody (I noticed this especially with Sapp) wanted to drive. Egerson and at a few points Green were the only players to show any agression on offense.
I'm really not sure what roles much of the team will fill on offense. Are Sapp and Crawford going to be exclusively spot up 3 point shooters? Is Rivers going to do anything but bring the ball up? Where do Ewing and Macklin fit in?
Obviously we need a lot of work on offense, but it is certainly still really early. I was just hoping to see an adjusted offense, but it looked like the same setup as last year. If we had Cook and Owens today, we probably win by 20 - but Sapp and Crawford shouldn't be playing like Cook and Owens. With time hopefully everyone outside of Wallace, Green and Hibbert find a role in the offense.

For those of us in town, is there a point to buying the shirt online? I assume I can get it for $15 at games (although apparently not Saturday), correct?

This is the kind of thing that everyone in every field should be doing all the time.
Good find.

The same ads are also in Metro stops, including Foggy Bottom.

How exactly do you think bus-metro is 30 minutes slower each way than a bus straight to the game?

Just want to make this clear again . . . YOU DON'T NEED TO EVER SWITCH METRO LINES. METRO CENTER IS A 2 MINUTE WALK FROM THE ARENA.

If you switch lines at Metro Center you are a lazy slob.

Thanks for the report. Egerson playing well would certainly give us a more balanced lineup.
I suspect Crawford gets most of the backup guard minutes, which will leave Summers, Macklin and Ewing fighting for playing time in the frontcourt.

I don't see it. Roy and Jeff are just so much more talented than Wallace that the loss of either one would be much more crippling.
I don't see any reason why Sapp is less of a PG than Wallace, and I think Rivers could handle some backup PG minutes. Now, this isn't to say we could easily afford to lose Wallace - we certainly couldn't. We don't have much depth there and he is our best shooter. But let's not overstate his ability; he doesn't make many mistakes (or great plays), he can hit open 3s, and he plays mediocre defense.
I do agree about the press though, and mentioned it in another thread. Wallace never seemed that comfortable breaking it himself - Sapp is actually probably better at that. Crawford, Ewing and Summers will have to show good handles or else we will get pressed a lot.

This is not the NBA. Having watched Princeton basketball for 20 years, Watching Northwestern for the past 3-4, you just don't see that. In the NBA, you just see certain aspects of the system, not the system itself. I think that is in large part due to talent rather than design. There is no chance that Chris Wright fills the same role as Wallace, and I suspect that as talent increases the system will become more open in general. GIGA - Sapp is hard to read. He had a rep as a guy who drives to the hole, but he didn't even do that in Kenner. I can't really figure out why.

Jerry- what are you basing your assesment on? The variations of the Princeton in the NBA have dribble-drive PGs, and that is certainly what Chris Wright will be doing starting next year.

I must respectfully disagree. We have one of the most reliable, ball handling point guards, in the BE, if not the country. How often did he turn it over last year??? There is a huge difference between being a great ball handler and not turning the ball over. Wallace rarely turns the ball over because he rarely makes aggressive plays, whether driving or passing. In terms of pure ball-handling skill, I'd say Sapp is better.

Not worried. I saw Braswell play 3 times this summer, and while he was never spectacular he was always consistently good. Yea, he was bad in this game, but considering it was a total abomination on both sides it would be a mistake to take too much from it.
As for Ben-Eze, the only thing I noticed was that he is big. Didn't do much else, but, as I said, events like this aren't made for big men. I suspect he'd be down the list a bit as far as '08 options go.
