Getting nervous. Let’s do this! Confident - but not overconfident. Our vastly improved defense will be the difference. Hoya Saxa.

GAMEDAY!!!!! Playing with house money, hope the guys are lose and ready to have fun! Nothing better then being a lower seed against a team that you can beat. All we need to do is show up ready to give 110% effort, box out and REBOUND the ball (we can win the rebounding battle). Move the ball crisply to find open shooters, we won't be able to just shoot over their wings. Win the 50/50 balls and the game is ours. Most of all though, I want to see the guys have fun...this is the experience of the lifetime and I hope they're enjoying it. GO HOYAS!!! BEAT THE BUFFS! Hometown - you need to change the word in your first line to "loose" - we do NOT need any bad karma today!! Go Hoyas, Stuff the Buffs!

It has been 2,190 days since the Georgetown Hoyas won an NCAA men's basketball tournament game.
Enough is enough.
We will not be denied.
HOYA SAXA!

One interesting thing about our BET run is how much it was really fueled by our excellent defense. In those 4 games, we shot 36.2% from three which is actually BELOW our season average of 36.6%. Similarly, our two point shooting was also slightly below average. Obviously, shooting percentage isn't the only aspect of offense - you also have offensive rebounding, turnovers, and other factors, but I do think it's noteworthy that we played excellent with very little change to our shooting. Usually, Cinderella-type teams manage their upsets or runs with above-average shooting. Ohio, from 2010, is a good example of a team that went wild from three point range (though our defense stunk too). But, hot teams from three can definitely cause upsets. The reason I say this is because if we can maintain our smothering defense AND happen to get hot against a team in the NCAA tournament, we will be extremely well positioned. Maintaining the defense is key though - if we do that, we don't need to shoot crazily well. Yep, after watching the BE Champ again, what struck me was: 1)How many mistakes (and missed shots) we had on the offensive end in the first half 2)Creighton's trio of bigs was abominable - like quit-the-game-forever awful, and that wasn't entirely due to our pressure. They just collectively stunk. We were good defensively, no doubt, and at times very good. But we were very pedestrian offensively in the 1st half. And Creighton outside of Z was collectively dreadful. Also, think Dante was very good, and remarkable for a frosh, but I am very surprised on rewatch that Bile didn't win MVP - after the first 3/4 awful shots, he played an almost flawless final 35 on both ends. I thought he was our best player on Sat night...and I don't think it was really all that close. But if your point '03 is that that we have plenty of room to improve on offensive end and what we saw in BET was actually 4 pretty average offensive performances, then I totally agree. If the guys can just click the O up one little notch (and maintain superb defense), they could be even nastier in NCAAs. And I think this game is all about staying out of foul trouble. With our absurdly short rotation - and it's really 6 (w spot minutes for Ig, Holloway and Sibs), we CANNOT afford foul trouble...and NCAA Tourney officials are infamous for traditionally screwing far less physical GU teams than this one. The BET was called very loosely, which I think we all agree favors the current team and the way Pat wants to play going forward. I don't think we can expect the snowflakes in Indy to allow the same brand of big boy hoops. Maybe we get a crew of the COVID back-up refs and they don't want to call too many fouls and call attention to themselves and to the fact that they are only there because of failure of the COVID protocols.

committed to Northwestern State And we thought Chudier Bile would help GU in recruiting?!?!?! Stash him there, get experience - then a grad transfer to the Hoyas!

My only concern is that Dante gets too locked into a mano-a-mano contest with McKinley-Wright, as happened at times with Cole against UConn. Just keep your teammates involved and don't try to do too much yourself.

Kyky Tandy of Xavier enters the portal. Thought they had a 4 year shooter with him.

Agreed. Bringing in a transfer for a position of immediate need is one thing, but relying on transfers year after year has to negatively impact recruiting high school kids; opposing coaches will tell kids they will sit year after year while transfers come in and play ahead of them.

Pretty much how all my alumni friends feel. If we beat Nova, seton Hall, and Creighton back to back to back during the season we would see ourselves rise in the polls and BE standings and have time to understand what it means. But doing it over 3 days and doing it so convincingly kinda takes your breath away. I really don’t think we can understand what happened last weekend until after this weekend. Win and go to sweet sixteen and we can relax and be confident that PE has turned the program around. Lose, and maybe get blown out, and we will be stuck with the feeling that last weekend was a fluke and the program has still not arrived. We are underdogs Saturday, and would be bigger underdogs against FSU Monday, so a loss would not be surprising. Last weekend was not a "fluke" in any way, we played competitive basketball the last 6 weeks. That said, that does not mean we are ready to battle for the top of the conference - not yet anyway. Next year will give us a good read on the future of the program, which I expect to continue to rise.

If Colorado can hit their open 3s they should win. I think Wright will get them open shots. Comes down to if they hit them. I would break it down more but I see that as key #1 2 and 3. So what you are saying is that if we win, it could only be because Colorado missed open 3's. That sounds like a familiar refrain 🤔

Not entirely fair since boya has posted since the BET and acknowledged that Patrick has done a good job improving the team this season. Not fair? Why aren't they on here? They were on here every second of the hour posting negativity when times were hard. Now times are good and they can't even spend one second a day on the site now and you want to give them credit for a half &** compliment? C'mon man! I get the feeling that those who complain about them not showing up - or showing up much - recently are just disappointed that they can't blast 9797, boya etc. for their negativity. So I can't really blame them for not wanting to post just to have to read a slew of insults.

I would hope we are better than to try to push their faces into the mud. Let's just back off and enjoy the ride. Ain't nothing wrong with pushing their faces in the mud. Shoot, we family and they earned it! Nonetheless this is so sad. As I've said in the past. Their hate for Coach Ewing is stronger than their love for GU basketball. And them disappearing only proves it. Not entirely fair since boya has posted since the BET and acknowledged that Patrick has done a good job improving the team this season.

His defense has improved over the season, very solid. Hit your 3's and then take one to the rim when they come out to get you.

Not knowing a ton about Colorado, I don’t find his pick to be a slight to us. I mean we are the 12 seed despite it seeming like 4 out of every 5 “experts” is picking us. I don't have any problem with it. I just know there was some anti-ESPN & anti-Bilas stuff around here yesterday(?) so I'm guessing/joking they might have some issue with it. I don't have any problem with his pick, it is still a #5 vs. a #12. But he could have maybe mentioned one player on Georgetown while he was detailing the Colorado juggernaut?

They don't play defense in the Pac12 do they? Let's show them what shutdown D looks like. I live on the West Coast. Pac12 is very finesse. Gotta hope for refs that let the teams play.
