Under the scenario that is being painted here, what would be the earliest he is out? Two, three years? Two, three years too late. If we are locked in to one more year so be it but no more. Certainly no extension of any kind.

How about Friday afternoon, March 31st for a press release from SID announcing JT III's four-year extension while the rest of the basketball world is discussing the FF? Hate it on many levels; first of which would be the fear to display the courage of their conviction by shouting it from the rooftops rather than hoping it goes unnoticed.

That hiring does to back a ways but I believe it was Fr. Henle not Fr. Healy.

After all this the hiring of Amaker would make me and, clearly, many others blow a gasket. I am hard pressed to think he would be considered (to the extent anyone is being considered). His hiring, to me, would be one of the precious few options worse than the status quo. It would have me pining for the goood old days of JT III. Go look up who is agent is. Yeah, he can go too.

I think Amaker could do a great job at Gtown. Yes, I get he failed at Seton Hall but I think he is wiser now and also understands the recruiting of high caliber quality student talent. No, no, a thousand times no.

Back in the 1960's our basketball program was pretty typical for a small, private Mid Atlantic Catholic University. The players, like the student body, were white. The facilities were basic. And the goals were modest. Schools like Niagara, Sienna, Canisius, Duquesne, St. Bonaventure were still competitive and locally GU, GW, and AU were all considered equals. But things changed when all black Texas Western defeated all white Kentucky. The 1966 Texas Western Miners were not an all-black team. Right. Only the ones who got on the floor.

So now that it looks like Georgetown may only be on the hook for 1.3 mil or so a year and the other is tied to something else (Nike) I think it puts a lot more into perspective. A 3 year buyout at 3.9 mil is way more manageable then one over 9 mil. It would also make more sense why they would want to keep him because that base salary is pretty low all things considered. Does anyone know the Hoyas contract with Nike? Everyone seems to be worried about us losing that contract but if most of the money funnels straight through to JT3 then is it a bad thing if we lose it? I can't see Nike paying the university 2.5 mil more than one of the other companies would but maybe I am wrong. Adidas and UA would love to have the Hoyas in their portfolio and while they may not pay as much total for the deal the university may actually benefit more. I will admit I am doing some assuming but I think the above statements are reasonable based on the info we now have. Isn't Big John still on the board of Nike? Wouldn't that complicate matters of unwinding a Nike contract? It may be naive to say so but it should have no bearing. Such things would not be within a board's purview, I do not believe. Anyway, I understand that Nike is not much loved at GU at the moment. Let's see what PF Flyers would offer.

"In the mix"? There does not appear to be a mix. And potential ingredients are quickly disappearing from the shelves.

OK. Let's do this another way. Does anyone truly believe John Thompson Jr. Does NOT exert strong influence over the Georgetown basketball program? A prerequisite for "proof" would be transparency; not the program's strong suit.

Well, Wright only has two four-stars coming in this year, so there's that. Oh, and Omari Spellman, I believe. But who cares about that? Yes, and somehow he discerned value in Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, et. al.
