OK. Got it. Borderline sociopath, preferably one who can disguise it. That's who we're looking for.

While not my first choice, I think Ewing could succeed if he was surrounded by an outstanding staff that could guide him along on the nuances of college recruiting and the academic control side of things. I have no concern that he would be a solid Xs and Os coach because he has been an assistant to and played for some of the best coaches in the NBA. He is different from Mullin in that he has grinded as an assistant coach for over a decade. The grind will not affect Ewing, but can he kiss the butt of a 17 year old point guard? I mean Ewing is one of the greatest college players of all-time and an NBA HOFer. Traditional big men would gravitate to Ewing, just out of awe and respect, but my fear is he will have a tough time relating to 17 year old non-big guys. I am torn as well. My heart wants him on the sideline of the Hoyas, but my brain tells me his inexperience with this age of kids will be a potentially big problem. Are Tags and Reed in a position to ensure those "ifs"? I think not.

Let's say, hypothetically, Ewing is named coach. How many here think he would still be coach 5 years hence?

The Junk Yard Dog was asked on Facebook about a coaching gig at Gtown. "Man, y'all got me like Biggie!! It was all a DREAM to coac Gtown. I'd have tjose kids playing hard with mean muggs." — Jerome Williams Gotta love JYD!

Have at it, my friends. . . That's nice. By the way, who the hell is Josh Newman?

It feels like Hurley, Amaker or Ewing. What makes you feel it "feels" that way? I hope you're wrong.

I hate the notion that there really is a "national coaching search" and hope that the notion of any sort of committee is just window dressing. I prefer the completely top-down confidential method. Reed is the AD and it should be his call to recommend his top choice and the school's administration, which then has to decide whether or not to pull the trigger. Vet these folks like spies or Supreme Court justices, decides who you want, and go for your guy- whether you have interviewed one candidate or a dozen. What is the advantage of that approach? What reason has Lee Reed given us to be confident that his choice would be the best one?

2 reasons to hire Billy Donovan:
- We will never be out coached - We can give him a chance to redeem himself for keeping us out of the Final Four

I think there is way more to this job than simply identifying the best pure basketball coach. I have been pushing back on DFW for months relative to this notion that the GU job isn't just about winning. But up to a point, I think he's totally right. There are lots of things to consider here, and the D.C. Community and the program's cultural legacy are among them. I'm not sure how running a racially biased coaching search would be honoring the program's cultural legacy. Seems to me that it would be doing just the opposite. But agree to disagree on this one. Amen.

Danny Hurley's deportment troubles me a little. He lost his composure in the post game TV interview following URI's conference tournament win. He is impulsive on the sideline. Say what you will about Thompson (and I have) his presence was exemplary. That attribute should not be sold short.
