ok, so in your opinion, who should the hoyas focus on based on reciprocating interest? Don't know other kids they are recruiting, but I personally know the kids in MN or in Ellenson's case Rice Lake (but played with MN Pump N'Run) they aren't going to pick the Hoyas, so don't want to see them waste time. As we know things can change in recruiting--but as of now--there is more of a chance that Nerlens will transfer to Georgetown next year then anyone from here going to Georgetown.

how strong is the interest from Hoyas. It doesn't matter. The kids from MN Gtown shouldn't waste any time with--they aren't going there.

Entire recruitment has been weird--from the parents wanting to "shut down the attention" and then going on the Calhoun "Bubble Boy" Tour of doing an interview/article every half hour, to the dad being upset his son was replaced by Andrew Wiggins as the #1 player in country, to the Parents doing updates all the time--and making odd statements, to Jabari's quote above.

Kenya Hunter has a son who is big time? Brian Snow who works for FOX/Scout.com and is from Ohio mocked Telep's description of Hunter's son--and hinted that Hunter spends time pumping his son up to the media guys--not surprising as most parents do this, but I'd trust Snow on this one more then Telep--who is still working with Biancardi on trying to explain why Jabari Parker's performance and going back in a time machine to use as reference. (don't get me wrong Parker is a very talented guy and going to be a fine player but they went all Austin Rivers treatment with him and that blew up in their faces--just hope Jabari doesn't break out a freestyle rap at the McDonalds game this spring that Telep gushes about how talented OFF the court he is)

I've not seen him play so I'll ask--could he be III's "Trey Burke"--i.e. the kid who comes in and changes how the perception of the program is regarding the PG position? That's what it's going to take for things to change-a guy who is a great player to be undervalued and signs with Hoyas and has ability to go to NBA in short time. I don't mind if he's just a damn good player who is a solid contributor for 4 years at all-but just saying for the overall program, they need the Trey Burke situation to happen to help with point guard recruits.

Looney is going to be recruited by everyone and hasn't really focused on recruiting yet. Long way to go in this one and not sure if that is a good/bad thing for Hoyas.

Doesn't Tre Campbell play for St. John's? If so--that's who I think they were mainly there to evaluate.

Someone asked about him in a previous thread(2014 wish list i think) and I'm too lazy to look back to find exactly which. Anyway, RDF commented that the young Mourning was not D1 material at all. He could probably find a D1 school to take him-but he's not Georgetown level player and not a high major scholarship player.

Steve Smith isn't going to play guys who are injured--remember when DSR had reinjured or banged up his knee and wanted to play on the China trip Oak Hill took last Spring? He made him sit out and rest. Britt has done this since I've followed him-bad game equates to (insert injury). Did it at Gonzaga Prep, with Assault, At Camps (that Adidas Nations event was laughable how he mentioned he was hurt because he sucked)and is doing it now at Oak Hill. Yeah it sounded like some bs but..All the other things about his poor play though = truth. I think he’s averaging 5ppg on the season smh.. "Nate Britt, playing with a torn meniscus, struggled to score as Oak Hill suffered a stunning double-overtime defeat to Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI to snap the school's 56-game winning streak. Britt will miss at least a month of action as he'll rest up following arthroscopic surgery” and then this "Nate Britt, future UNC point guard, was playing with a torn meniscus as we learned after the game, but the Washington D.C.-area native couldn't bring himself to miss his return home for this intriguing matchup. Britt struggled shooting from the floor all game, failing to convert a field goal in regulation. But he did some nice things with the ball in his hands, setting up his teammates for several baskets to keep Oak Hill right there. " northcarolina.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1447072All of you guys were right--apparently he's going to sit out a while--which I find odd. UNC/Smith allowed Britt to play with a knee injury. Now I know the meniscus isn't the worst injury--but it's still significant and why would Britt do something as goofy as "trying to play at home"--and I'm old fashioned-if you suit up and play, no excuses--but of course we get the excuse after the loss. Ego is a detriment to all--and Steve Smith showed his as well in defeat. Wish Britt well on his recovery, but question why he'd play in first place and being allowed to play is really in question if it's that serious he has to sit.

How are there so many fat kids playing ball? Meeks, Anya, Smith, & one other kid in that video were all carrying an extra 30+. I can only remember one kid playing high level ball who pulled that off when I was growing up. Conditioning is often viewed as "too harsh" for the kids these days. I'm still waiting for someone to show me why Anya is considered a prospect? What does he do? Meeks to UNC is going to be simple--get in shape and find out if he can play or he'll be out of there in a semester. I'm assuming he'll get in shape because Roy Williams isn't going to slow the UNC offense down. So he's got some hope--Anya is going to be a role player who will give fouls or transfer out due to thinking he's better then he is. Like what I've seen of Derrickson and his class and the one ahead of him seem to be the re-birth of DMV producing a lot of talent. Been a down cycle for a while.

If we can put up 89 points while JT3 allowing one of our starters to be "a black hole on offense" I say keep it up. Aaron is the best leaper on this team, I think comparable to PEjr because he's smoother. It's definitely between Bowen and Pat for best leapers of the JT3 era. Jabril is right behind, but he hasn't shown as much in games. As for overall athletes, Whitt is up there, as are Jason, Chris, Dajuan, Jeff now, and believe it or not Mikael. He's at least the most athletic big under JT3. Some would argue they scored 89 pts because Hopkins only played 9 minutes--if he plays his usual time, that's at least 6-7 more FGA's, many more misses, more bricks at the FT line, and more turnovers that lose the team possession. Others would point out how pressuring a team and increasing the pace of the game increases your chances to score and it's a blueprint for scoring overall. Since this is about athleticism-the most athletic big that III's ever had is Brandon Bolden.

in response to RDF above - your right about Britt. Seems to me that every marquee matchup he looks bad in he's hurt. He didn't look injured to me on Sat., just outplayed by the young PVI guard. He had plays called for him that he couldn't finish at the rim and the shot is suspect. He didn't play last year vs. Patterson because of "injury" but I don't think the Britt's wanted anything to do with Aquille. This week was a homecoming in which any competitor would have wanted to play in. He didn't look good, and I know for sure if Roy knows he's injured he would have told Smith to sit him. Playing the injury card doesn't make sense, but he may be. Steve Smith isn't going to play guys who are injured--remember when DSR had reinjured or banged up his knee and wanted to play on the China trip Oak Hill took last Spring? He made him sit out and rest. Britt has done this since I've followed him-bad game equates to (insert injury). You wouldn't be playing if you had a torn meniscus and a college career ahead of you and if he is--Britt, Britt's Dad, and his coach need to have a talk because that is ignorant. Britt has also been "hurt" the past 2 years since he's been garbage. Derrickson is a guy to keep on radar--just hope he's receptive to Hoyas.

HBS, I have family who worked/works in the UCLA Athletic Department and knows firsthand about Josh Smith's "odyssey". He's a baby. Not mean spirited, but unreliable, not accountable, and makes awful decisions and then expects everyone to bail him out and serve his needs. The UCLA staff coddled him his first 2 seasons and this year they didn't--told him to grow up and his response was to leave/quit. He felt he should start and this is with him knowing what was expected of him this offseason (lose lbs, quit smoking/partying..and focus on basketball or he'd lose playing time). He didn't do that. He didn't respond to being coddled and he left due to someone having a reality check.
Now I fully understand that III is in a no lose situation--guy messes up--he's gone. If he turns it around--maybe you get something out of him and help him along way. I just think with the constant chances this kid has had and how he's reacted--and small amount of time he'd be in the program it's not a risk worth bothering with. If III takes him/thinks differently, I hope it works out. Just not holding my breath about this and the people in Athletic Department have no beef with Josh--they actually are disgusted with Howland and how he's let things get so out of control--including with this year's FR.
All I will say about Noel--NEVER was he going to Georgetown leading up to his announcement. That was a fairy tale that promoted his announcement and same crap is being cycled now by the "industry" to pump up subscriptions and interest. There are 2 players that are getting used as "drama" right now that not only will not end up where they are being touted to go-they aren't even considering the schools that gurus are promoting as the leader or co-leader.

Been to Tallahassee several times--and the campus is nice eye candy--but not much different then most big time college enviornments--specifically the state schools. A ton of FSU football and basketball players actually date Florida A&M girls and I'll put it this way--if you attend Georgetown and live in Washington DC/Surrounding area and can't find attractive women, there is nothing anyone can do to help you. Several players have mentioned to me they look forward to their DC trip and Howard University coeds are brought up, and Duke guys often (have to?) go to Chapel Hill to find their women. ;D

What I always factor in with transfers--why are they leaving? Playing Time. Understand. Family stuff--understand. Because they lost playing time and were told to lose weight but chose not to--RED FLAG. Everyone likes to see the "upside" well there is another side to things. Smith chooses to do what he's done since HS and party/drink/smoke/eat. He doesn't respond to the fact he's got to get into shape and he expects to play--if not start. The time off will be about positive pr--but what happens when he's counted on? He's let himself and everyone else down and hasn't shown he gives a damn. He treated the support staff at UCLA like they were his slaves and he had no respect for coaches, professors, teammates, or himself.
Georgetown's need at Center--understand. Georgetown can do better then a fat kid who has no respect for anything and is begging for an umpteenth strike--this wouldn't be his 2nd chance-it would be into the teens. Just because someone is out of a program doesn't mean they weren't given extra opportunities to behave/act like an adult and student athlete. On the court, he's partied his way from being a good player/prospect to a sloth who tires after 1 trip up/down the court. If Georgetown is committed to running more--does he fit? If Georgetown plays their usual halfcourt offense-how does he fit? He's a kid who hasn't shown any face up game and isn't a great passer--he's a back to basket post who lacks elevation/explosion. Hoyas do great work with bigs, but I'd rather they work with what they have and recruit better HS players or even look to JC ranks if they want quick fix then UCLA's problem child who didn't care to be told he was a fat whiny baby who needed to grow up and take accountability. His response was to quit. That a sign of maturity?

When its all said and done, Domingo will be better than Hollis on both sides of the ball. Really like what he is doing as an on ball defender.....definitely putting forth the enerfy on D. Agree 100%--and much quicker then was told--very active and pays attention well. Fun to watch him play since everytime I was set to see him-he was banged up or sick. I like that's he maintained aggression but not let his shot change how he's played on other end.

Liked the fact a lot of players played and defense produced easy baskets needed to make this a blowout. The turnovers didn't hurt nearly as much because a lot of them were made trying to be aggressive and get out and run. When you increase possessions in a game and play faster, the less the turnovers hurt. Smith Rivera had a better floor game on offense and was more attentive on defense-but he's just an awful defensive player and opponents know this. Minute he comes into the game--his guy attacks him if Hoyas are in man, and if in zone--they can get by him. Last night Felix--who isn't any jet on the court--blew by him repeatedly and this was with Smith Rivera trying to play defense. It is what it is with him. But he contributed on glass--excecuted a beautiful pick and roll with Moses, and did what I as a fan expect--gave effort on defensive end. Can't help what you don't have--but you can try and that's all I want to see.
Nate/Markel need to keep playing like they have last 3 weeks (minus IU game for Nate).

Domingo is going to help. Really like his activity and energy along with his confidence. Nice looking stroke but is quicker then what others had painted and while not an elite athlete, he's good enough. He is in a stance, engaged defensively and only expect his minutes to climb as season progresses.
