I fail to understand why our players wouldn't be smart enough to run the Princeton offense. I mean, how could you determine that by looking at them? I mean, you'd have to base it on skin color or something.

I think that picture is good for them, that was the highlight of their entire season, maybe it will help their low confidence.
At the end of the day they were at best an average major conference team, helped greatly by their home court. They showed their true class when their freshman hooked Hansborough (sp?) then they got sent home first day of the tourney by a mid major team.

haha almost as good as this sweet move by Paulus...
The people are all dirtbags and morons. Not smart enough to run the princeton offense? Well, apparently we got by with just making it to the final four and not losing in the first round like someone else. SI should be just as ashamed to be lauding this picture, maybe I'll give them a pass if it was posted back when they beat us at cameron.
If the dookies are trying to pick a school to trump on their academics, I hardly think georgetown is the one. GOD I HATE THESE PEOPLE!

Re: PAULUS........
The photo of him calling timeout while standing on the scorer's table in the first link is hilarious, especially considering the NCAA rules no longer allow referees to grant timeouts to players jumping/falling out of bounds or into the backcourt. If he had possessed the ball on the floor inbounds, he could get a TO, but I doubt that he would still be signaling from the floor inbounds, all the way to the top of the scorer's table.
As for the YouTube clip, I saw this game live. That sad effort would have been a Technical foul (all flops were to be penalized as such) only a handful of years ago. The NCAA removed the rule because no official ever called it. His flop was so pathetic, however, that the Technical foul he could have received could not possibly make him look as bad as the video clip did (& continues to do).

These guys are pretty clever. I think good sign in response would be:
You're not good enough to go the Final 4.

Yeah, I was at that game and saw the sign. It was during warmups, and the guy behind me was lecturing me about how classy the Duke fans are. (The strong implication was that everyone else was at least a step behind.) He said things like "we never boo the opposing players." I don't even think that's true, but I pointed out this sign to him and said "so THAT's supposed to be classy?" Honestly, the Duke people were pretty nice and I wouldn't overdue any outrage, but the superiority they felt over everyone else was a bit much to take. Are we going to get to play them again?

That sign is a disgrace. It is racist and hateful.
It was bad enough the kid brought the sign, but I can't understand why Sports Illustrated would perpetuate this. Shame on them too.

If Gtown had a majority of white players I believe the sign would have still been used. I don't think its necessarily racist.

Last time I checked, Georgetown was a pretty good school. We do relax admissions requirements for some of our players, but so does Duke. How is that witty, then? Is calling someone stupid who isn't necessarily stupid, witty? Maybe I'm too dumb to get it.

Umm...that picture has obviously been photoshopped to put someone else's head on the body holding the sign. Either that or the student has a floating head and a dislocated right shoulder.
Makes you wonder how carefully si.com screens its photo submissions.
By the way - ease up on the race card, guys. It's a pretty funny sign, and fairly g-rated by our own standards.

I don't think it is explicitly racist. I'm just wondering where the idea comes from that basketball players at Georgetown are too stupid for the Princeton offense. I mean, yeah, USNews has Princeton and Duke higher, but not much. We're a good school. He's implying that his team is smart enough but ours isn't...I mean...where's the basis for the dig? To be witty, doesn't it have to be based on something? I just wonder if there isn't something there deeper down.

Same can be said for "Yankees S*CK" or "Red Sox S*UCK" both teams certainly do not suck(in recent years) but the more similar the team/school etc... the more "insightful" jabs come out. Also, Princeton is a "smarter" school than gtown, and although the implication that Duke would be able to run the O is up for debate, I see it as a good jab at a similar school/program. No racism for sure.

Look, the sign is flat out wrong. The guy who 'runs' our Princeton offense was certainly smart enough to run it when he was accepted to Princeton in the first place.

It's actually kosher. The guy who's face you see in profile is not the one holding the sign. The guy holding the sign is behind that guy and his entire head is obscured by the other guy in the foreground. The guy holding the sign is wearing a baseball hat and looking skyward, or the brim of his hat is tipped up.
