I hate to do it, but I have to chime in to complain about Tombs. When I ordered the Drew Hall, the waiter tripped and spilled the sandwich all over me. To Tombs' credit, subsequently the waiter was transferred to a different Clyde's establishment.

I ordered an Egersub, but half way through it impregnated a girl in Delaware and left to take care of her..... (Is that funny?) I'm sorry... I'm not good at this kind of humor. By the way, what's the best part about eighteen year-olds? There's eight of them. Wait. No... it's gotta be your bull. I believe that the joke you were searching for was: I ordered the Egersub - the appetizer was ok, but then some other table got a sandwich and a kids meal. I don't get it. There is no kids meal at Tombs. Pls explain.

I knew it was time for me to leave Georgetown and the Tombs when I went in for brunch prior to my law school graduation and saw the tap for Budweiser lying in state on top of one of the coolers. The King is dead, replaced by Amstel Light. And while I am typically perfectly happy with my pitcher of Busch Light, there is something distinctly un-American about a bar that does not serve Budweiser (but does have Bud Light, Miller Lite, Amstel Light, Busch Light). Please spare me your bashing of the King of Beers when this thread is inevitably moved to 37 and 0.

Okay, now that High Life is gone and backup to High Life is also gone, the Tombs is officially dead to me. Guess now I have to get this back on track. I once ordered the Tony Bethel po' boy, which comes with sides of Drew Hall and coleslaw. The sandwich and Drew Hall vanished halfway through the meal, leaving me nothing but tasteless coleslaw. I'm not sure where the Tony Bethel po' boy and Drew Hall went, but from two tables away I thought I heard them talking smack about me.

I ordered the Harvey Thomas--and for some reason part of my sandwich was missing.

Budweiser got itself into trouble when it boldly and publicly announced that it would be on tap at The Tombs for the next 30 years.
Within weeks, it was removed.

i had the jeff green chicken parm and the jessie sapp meatball sub.
no, literally, i did. tombs made almost no attempt to be clever with the names of basketball-themed sandwiches. ok, i get the roast beef DUNK, but the other two made no sense. how about jeff green eggs & ham, vernon mackerel, or tyler crawfish?

The Mike Sweetney steak and cheese sub was nice and big, but just had too much fat to become part of the rotation.

My Wesley Wilson Burger tasted great but it did not get along with the other food in my stomach. Caused all sorts of problems.

I had the Eshrick hometown club the other day. It was always on the menu when I was at school there but I never ordered it. Finally after many years of ordering the old faithful steak sandwich I gave the Eshrick a try. The first few bites were quite good. Not as good as the first time I had the steak sandwich but better than the last few years of the steak sandwich. After those first few bites though I ran out of bacon on the sandwich. Next the turkey and Mayo were go and all of a sudden the whole damn sandwich was falling apart. I was left with a slightly plump tomato. I tried calling the manager of the place but he seemed too involved in public speaking arrangements, private jets, and avoiding the customers to see me waving my angry fists at him.

I ordered the "Octavius Spannwich". It sat on my plate for the first 39 minutes and 40 seconds of my visit to the Tombs and when it finally came off the plate, I wasn't hungry anymore. So it got up and left.

I hope I'm wrong, but did you just call BUDWEISER (alternatively Bud Heavy, Bud Leaded, the King, Red-and-White, the KING) a BACKUP to High Life? Are you out of your mind? I call for the immediate revocation of Austin's posting rights, until such time as he offers the HT community a sincere and contrite apology concerning his offense to the greatest beer of the greatest country in the world.

High Life is vastly superior to Budweiser.

High Life is vastly superior to Budweiser. Yeah right, and Oakland is vastly superior to San Francisco. Woo Wooo! (Sarcasm)

Oaktown is awesome.
But that's neither here nor there. I think Budweiser is the absolute last beer I would ever drink. Behind Beast. Behind Natty Lite. Behind Hamm's.

I once tried the Stoudamire back in the early 90's. You couldn't tell how smooth it was from looking at it, but it was lethal from behind the arc of the bar. It used to be made with pheasant, but it was discovered to taste more natural with homegrown Oregon Duck. The item can now be found on the menu under the Poultry Dishes, listed as the Madgesdiq.
