Texas A&M is awful--and Big XII SUCKS from what I've seen today--nobody plays any defense and they call it "great offense". I'd say that anyone on this board could score at least 4 points against a Big XII team by simply cutting without the basketball. You get at least fouled and likely 2 layups.

Penn is the worst Ivy League entry I've seen in last 15 years. They are awful--and still only down 8 pts with Acie Law IV talking smack after making a wonderful move--Acie--the Ville is coming on Saturday--pack your bags pal--an effort like today from A&M and they leave by humiliating defeat--not just a loss but a ROUT.

GW getting their lunch eaten by Vanderbilt. I like it.

I think A&M will rebound from that first round effort. The Ville in Lexington is a raw draw though.

Man, there are a LOT of bad teams in this tournament. I can't remember a year when there were so many huge blowouts so early.
GW = horrible Stanford = horrible Belmont = truly horrible

unless you count 7/10 or 8/9 games for upsets, VCU/Duke is probably your only upset chance tonight. Pitt is floundering, but they won't lose to Wright State. This often means that tomorrow will be an amazing day of shockers.

MSU is kicking marquette butt. Luckily this is what i picked. Hopefully we'll finally get an upset( sort of) took marquette almost ten minutes to get on the board?!! Weber state is giving UCLA a game only down 4 as we speak with 7 left to play in the first. GO VCU i need one of these upset picks to work out.

From the Luvul-Stanford game:
"Full-court pressure was not something we've seen in games, but we've worked on it in practice," said Stanford guard Anthony Goods. "We planned on attacking it, but we got out there and started thinking too much. We started playing to their advantage when we started thinking and they forced some turnovers."
'Nuff said...
I should've picked Luvul over Tex A&M.

I watched VCU in their conference championship and was pretty impressed. Duke is shooting over 50% and barely winning. If VCU plays like they did for the last part of the second half, they have an excellent chance and I'd love to see it happen.
I am really not surprised to see Michigan State handling Marquette--it was one of the few predicted close games I was completely consistent with on all my brackets (I know--you should only have one and stick with it, but that's no fun!!). Everyone makes a big deal out of James, but from every game I saw Marquette play, Jerel McNeal was a much bigger factor in the team's success. No McNeal= No win for Marquette, especially against an Izzo coached MSU. Not that I like Izzo, but he does an incredible job in the NCAAs. (We'll see if this holds up now, seeing as it is only halftime).
So far, the biggest surprise for me in the tournament is how badly Vanderbilt beat GW. I expected a Vandy win (again, picked them on every bracket) but to win by 33?? I can't believe anybody thought it would be that bad--the line was 3.5 from what I saw (a misplaced decimal point maybe??) I also thought ODU had a better chance to beat Butler--I saw that one as being a buzzer beater type game. I also thought Oral Roberts would give WSU a better game and ditto for Stanford against Louisville. Of course I haven't watched either PAC-10 team all year and had little to nothing to base either of those opinions on--so I guess the results can't be TOO surprising. I'll stick with the Vanderbilt demolition of GW as the surprise of the 1st rounders so far and barring a #1 seed/UCLA loss, a Pitt loss, or a similar blowout score in the Gonzaga/Indiana or Xavier/BYU games in either direction, it may stay that way.

Maynard has onions! Onions I tell you!! Maybe, but Duke's defense was sorely lacking down the stretch. Maynard was going to take that shot all along. (Please, someone check Dick Vitale's pulse.)

Maynard has onions! Onions I tell you!! Amen brother. Paulus tried to intimidate him, but it only made him mad and committed to beating Duke. If your are going to attempt to intimidate someone, at least be better than that person.

Who's more hate-able, Paulus or Devendorf. That's a tough choice but I think I will go with Devendorf.
