I want to thank everyone at Verizon yesterday for making the game an amazing part of my brother's visit to Georgetown.
He got in to Georgetown and ND early, and as I have degrees from both schools, I felt that I'd be doing him a disservice if I didn't get him out to Georgetown. (Because we live in Chicago, I had gotten him to a few ND football games, a tough experience to match.)
In any case, I dropped him off at New South on Friday night where he stayed with a friend's younger brother (thanks for the ride Jack). And met him for a tour on Saturday morning (thanks for all the whiskey Friday night Velvet Elvis). My brother enjoyed the tour, and raved about his host. Then Mrs. Formerhoya and I took him to Clydes before the game.
He actually got a spot in the student section (thanks again to his great host), and, well, anyone who was there knows what that game was like.
The result of all this is that this morning (I try not to push him either way in his decision), I heard him on the phone to our Dad saying, "This trip sucked. Before I came I was pretty sure I was heading to ND, but I really loved it here and now I don't know what I'm gonna do."
Anyway, great job Hoyas, and thanks to everyone who made the trip worth it.

Notre Dame is garbage. I don't know how anyone could choose South Bend over Washington DC.

I had a fantastic time at one of the few games I've been able to attend this year (unfortunately with teaching, you can't take days off to for the games because administrators don't really understand why georgetown is a family emergency... especially in Pittsburgh)...
My hats are off to the student section... I told my boyfriend (who is a pitt grad and was with me at the game yesterday) when we were at the game in Pittsburgh that Georgetown would have never been as loud as their fans... boy, was I wowed when I showed up at the game on Saturday to see not only a sold out game, but an awesome student section.
I was honestly scared because on the way down to the game on Metro, my entire car was filled with Pitt fans... luckily, my fears subsided once the game started... my only nit picky thing was when my boyfriend and I were walking out of the game (we had to go around section 104/105 aka the student section), we were holding hands and we got karate chopped by a student who started yelling at me "why are you with him!!?!"... besides that, it was a great game, and the students were awesome.

I was sitting in the 400's with 5 other former GU friends, and I'd say we were all but surrounded by PITT fans. How great it was watching them sit on their hands the last few minutes of the game! We also sat right behind one of those WG fools, who attend GU games to pull for our opponents. Ha! The game was just a wonderful performance and a great experience. Thanks JTIII and the Hoyas for making my weekend.
And I never thought I would boo an organ donor representative . . . but there's a first time for everything.

Well.....why ARE you with him? hahah do you have something to do with this cam? hmm... nah, just kidding... he's a great guy (trust me, in a sea of pittsburgh guys, he was a hard find). Nah, he even said that the Georgetown fans were well behaved in comparison to pitt fans (when I was heckled by students, to alum, to the 12 year olds who were sitting behind us)

Former- The whiskey was my pleasure. I wasn't pleased to see you drinking that glorious brown substance from a plactic cup. My blame goes to the 3rd Floor of an establishment where I have spent way too much time.
As for futureHoya (hopefully), I can't wait to see him in the student section next year. Two wrongs don't make a right.
I also regret not making it over to The Tombs to celebrate the first LEGAL adult beverage of Jack's younger brother. I had been over-celebrating the win and younger velvet becoming an officer of the law on Friday.
All in all, one of the best weekends in recent memory.

I realize it's less than 3 hours until tonight's game, but I had to add my thoughts about this past weekend.
It took me 7 hours to get home in the snowstorm from DC. I couldn't have cared less.
First off, Coast2Coast and theexorcist, great posts. Best ones of the thread.
About 98% of what I would have wanted to say has already been said, so I'll just add a few more random musings:
1) To the guys with the "Rocktavius" shirts, those were awesome.
2) About the crowd: TV confirmed what I saw in person, which was a louder crowd on Saturday than at the Duke game for the final 6 minutes of the game. One of my old roommates, who hadn't been back to a game since we graduated, remarked "this is how a student section should be." To the freshman who accompanied me to games during the '03-'04 season and have been able to witness the evolution of the student section from its lowest point to its current glory, I couldn't be more happy for you. To the YA and general public sections; THANK YOU for lending your voices and standing when the Hoyas needed it most. Every Hoya fan brought it on Saturday, and although obviously the team and staff deserve 99.9% of the credit for the 2nd half comeback, the crowd can proudly claim the other 0.1%, which may have been the difference in a hotly contested war.
3) I've watched the game 4 times on DVR/VHS since the game. Two things stand out: first, Brando remarks with about 5 minutes to go that "if the Hoyas get a stop, this place will explode," followed in the next 10 seconds by Ewing drawing the charge out near midcourt, and Verizon exploding as predicted, and second, the commentators consistently talking up Jeff as the guy who wanted this game more than anyone else. Remember how we used to get on Jeff for being too timid/passive/unemotional? If you get a chance to watch the last 10-12 minutes of the game again on TV, and you watch Jeff's eyes and facial expression, if you don't see the BE POY looking back at you, I'm not sure how one is supposed to carry himself on the court.
4) The opportunity to celebrate the win with many HT posters, including 007, CAHoya, TBird, FL (the two members of the "old guard" finally met!), Bridget, and countless others whose handles I haven't matched with their names was awesome. Being able to "revive" your keg and keep the party going until the wee hours of the morning is a memory I'll never forget.
5) HfieldHoya and H2oyaPolo celebrated birthdays this past weekend. I think both got the present they were looking for.
6) One random last thought: the last band on my iPod mix that played as I rolled into my local train station in NJ was Jimmy Eat World. The song? 23. The album? Futures. Hopefully the Hoyas' future is a 23rd win tonight.
